Sterling Marlin will be in the Furniture Row shop in Denver Colorado on Friday for a seat fitting in preparation to drive the number 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet at Bristol on August 25th. Scott Wimmer will be driving for Furniture Row this weekend in Michigan. Could this be a possible pairing for Furniture Row for next year allowing Sterling to run a part time schedule? I still expect Wimmer will drive the fourth Childress entry next year. But if not, he might have a full or part time deal with Furniture Row.
So, Falcon, did he get the other "stuff" with Ginn resolved? I just want Sterling to get what is due to him and then be able to do what he wants to do. Thanks for the info.
Pardon my ignorance and I don't mean sound dismissive but isn't Sterling Marlin about 200 years old? And this furniture company? How big is it? I have this vision of very poor financing out of a row of furniture stores like maybe an auto mall? But not nearly as much money coming in? We've spent some pretty serious money on furniture, serious to me, but in one case the very best Italian leather furniture 4 pieces was like 6,000.00 (ridiclous I know. I ####ed about that forever) but that was the most expensive living room suite they had in the whole huge place. Sure people need furniture but I have a hard time seeing the money. Doesn't it cost like over a million for a team to run all year?

Sterling is only 100 (He is 50). Furniture Row is big in the Denver area apparently. Clearly they can not compete with other major sponsors. It takes 30 million a year to run a top team these days apparently according to a NASCAR online article I recently read about how Interstate Batteries may not be able to help Kyle Bush be competitive next year.
Sterling is simply "a racer" that loves to race. Who knows? He might have a chance at Bristol.
Seem to remember when Moss came around that some thought he was gonna be a great but a lot of hard luck over the years? Man it's hard to pick something back up you put down for20 years aNd not being a mechanical person, I'm kinda like Montoya in that video, LOLOL, I know I'm out classed both in experience on the big USA tracks, know my car is not this guys car, running side by side with him, hahahaha, I loved that attitude, YEAH I'M PROBABLY GONNA CRASH BUT DAMMIT THIS IS RACING AND I'M GONNA PUT THE PEDAL TO THE METAL. I love this guy.
I watched rally racing the other night where they run two cars at a time on seperate tracks? I really like that.

I just don't see how people can be on Montoya so bad. he's first year, he don't know all the other drivers little "tendencies", He's typical formula one hothead which don't make him all bad, I'm from another era I guess. When the Yarboroughs and Petty and every single guy would tap you into the wall and jump out of the draft and 90 times out of 100 that car in second coming off the final turn would get by.
The NASCAR community has been real hard on any open wheelers coming into the sport based on my 20 plus years of being a fan. They gave Tony Stewart a real hard time in the beginning. Then factor in the hispanic background and racism raises its ugly head unfortunately. Cheers bro!
Hey, great pic! It puts you in a totally different light. Furniture Row is a big business. I think they would do better if they were based in NC, but what do I know? Anyway, I really want Sterling to do well. He is one of my all time favorites. Thanks again, Falcon.
Sure Furniture Row would do better if they were based in North Carolina. That is where all the best people in the field are. You are only as good as your people. Actually, they do rent space from DEI(Ginn).
I'll stick with Sterling any races he runs this year.
That's great, but since they have to qualify the car on time, not owner's points, their chances are still kind of low for even making it into the Bristol field. Wimmer couldn't qualify the car for Michigan, and he was about 2 mph slower than he needed. If that's all this car can do, Sterling would be better off just driving Busch cars to get his racing fix. All he's going to do is end up with one lame team after another, driving second-rate cars, getting a bunch of DNF's, thinking 30th place is a good finish, and going out on a low note. He has a ton of experience, he drives clean, other drivers respect him, but the day he injured his neck was the day everything changed, and he's never been the same since.
