Ken Schrader drove the No. 18 Fastenal Dodge Ram to a top-five finish in the rain-delayed Power Stroke Diesel 200 at O'Reilly Raceway Park, Indianapolis, Ind., last Friday night, July 27. Next up in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series racing: a 200-mile race at Nashville Superspeedway, in Lebanon, Tenn., on Saturday, August 11, 2007.
Schrader did it in style too. He started 18th and moved up steadily through the field all night on a track where the winner has always started in the top five. Not bad for an old man. He ended the night picking up two spots on the last lap. There was also this tidbit.
TruckSeries.com Report
Fifth-finishing Ken Schrader drove the No. 18 Fastenal Dodge to its first lead lap posting since May’s race in Mansfield where he took third – the veteran’s best of the season.
Good post and photos too! I never noticed the little lexan side-wings before! Plus now I know what the acronym stands for I heard it the other night on a race-vid and thought they had it wrong since I still thought it was IRP.

So NASCAR came down hard on Stewart for the use of profanity on screen durning an interview. Not only imposing a fine from what I understand they also deducted 25 driver's points for the offense. It's a pity that the other major sports don't follow NASCAR's example. Although I do feel that it might've been more appropriate that next time around they make an example of a driver by suspending them. If they can't give an interview without resorting to the use of profanity just to make a point. It's not as if they aren't well educated and don't have a proper command of the English language. They seem to have forgotten they've a number of young kids who also happen to be some of NASCAR's most fervent fans.
I am not so worried about the cussing. My son has heard it all at age 10. But what really amazes me is that some of these high paid athletes can't play the pc game when it would behoove them geatly to do so. I understand Schrader has quite an interesting vocabulary. But you don't hear it from him in interviews.

First and foremost it's about behaving like an adult and not like that of a petulant child. And as for your young son hearing cussing around him. It's not something tjhat I believe you'd condone or for him to use as a way to express himself unless in anger. And even then it should be unnecessary for a child to be expressing themsleves in such a way. It's about being circumspect and having respect for those around you, if nothing else.
I'm pretty sure (and I'm obviously speculating) but I don't think they would have taken points away from Stewart if they hadn't done so with Junior in 2004. When NASCAR sets a precedent they are pretty much a slave to it.
14f~ Probably most of us are professionals or were at some juncture. I agree, when you're on point, be the pro. When you are amongst friends, act-like and be yourself.
I still say Tony is harboring something. I can read it in his body language when interviewed. If he can get that taken care of, whatever it is, he'll behave appropriately.
exhaust, you mean on the truck? I miss Runts exhaust systems...they screamed!
That's right. Be pc when required and yourself when you feel it is safe to do so.
Apparently Tony is switching girl friends. Maybe that's it. Who knows, maybe the x took the ####.
I just noticed the exhaust pipe end on those pics. I see them on the die casts all the time. But they just looked interesting in the pics. Pretty cool. Wonder what it would take to do that on my Mustang.
p.s. I can't say ####? I can't say #### because Cosell said it and everyone got pissed because they thought he meant #### when he didn't? #### this pc ####! This is ridiculous.
Just thought I'd also put in a poke for Kenny Schrader. His extracurricular dirt races over the weekends at different stops on the tour is what made me a big fan of his when I was a kid. I know that certain bloggers here aren't that fond of dirt, based on other comments I've seen-- *wink*-- but when that's all you got in your neighborhood as you're growing up, then that's what you got. One time when the tour was stopping at Watkins Glen, Kenny came down to Five Mile Point where I spent practically every Saturday of the summer, and jumped into my uncle's backup car and beat him with it. I think Kenny finished second that night. He showed uncle Charlie a trick he liked to use on short tracks by unhooking the brake line to the right front. I'll never forget that. That's why Kenny will always be one of the great ones, he never forgot his roots, and he never stopped being just a normal guy who loves to race anything.

Just finished reading the USA Today article on Katherine Legge and tjhe problems she's having racing in the Champ Series. What is it with all the hype surrounding these females ? Is it that they'd expect it to be as easy as baking a cake , racing in these various series ? Above all it takes a competitive nature and ability to win above all else. And not just the belief that you've overall got a modicum of talent. Like everything it's the practice one puts in as well as the energy.

LOL. I am starting to really like you. Maybe we will get a new group of "real NASCAR bloggers" out of this damn contest after all once the smoke clears from the #### regular posters that got burned by the ignorant judges.
Yeah, my mom used to say ####! ####! ####! Three times she would say it. Not once, not twice, but three times. I never knew she was that profane. I thought it was just another word for poo poo. Is it really that big of deal? ####? I mean #### man, ####? ####! ####! ####! Am i mistaken or isn't it just another word for poo poo.
O.K.,. I'll have to give you a gonads award for sucking it up. Maybe you do want to be a blogger and not just a contest entrant afterall. Or are you sucking up for my vote?
Anyway, dirt is cool. I like dirt. I check out a local track every now and then. I love The World of Outlaws on dirt. But it isn't for Nextel Cup.
Those are really cool stories about Kenny. Beat him huh? That must have felt awesome. No brake line to the right front. Makes sense.
I have been to Kenny's dirt track in Pevely, Misouri. You might want to check it out sometime if you haven't already. It is just south of St. Louis.

From what I read she's having a hard time of it in the Champ Car Series. She's from the UK , like myself as you're well aware of that I'm sure. She's a competent driver but I do believe she may well have underestimated the degree of difficulty of jumping from Champ Car Atlantic Series to the full blown Champ Series. But she'll make a bold attempt of being a success as she's not been known to give up on anything that she's ever attempted to do.
I think she is doing O.K.,. She runs competitively at times from what I see. But a lot of people are harder on drivers than I am. They expect their driver or "a good" driver to run up front. Unfortunately, that is not always realistic.

It's far from realistic as she's also got to get to get use to the type of racing that's done here. What she's accomplished in Britain and then coming here becomes secondary. It also then becomes even more arduous if you've come across with a grea deal of expectation coming from anyone and everyon involved with your team. It'll take some time for her yet to get really acclimatized to the racing.
On Schrader: Always a gentleman driver in front of the camera but I imagine he can let loose with the best of them.. I have always heard the tale he drives to each race on a motorcycle. Seems a bit risky in that respect but that is Kenny.
Kenny is a real race car driver. Always racing during the week and weekends.. Don't know where he gets the energy.
