Jaimie McMurray wanted to be my man. I know he doesn't have a clue who I am. It is a fantasy. It is called play. So pardon me if I offer him an imaginary five year contract if Sterling does not win a race this year.
Sterling Marlin had a chance tonight. He could have won. Who knows? He still has a shot at Talladega. It's too bad "it blew a tire" tonight.
Someone said my heart would tell me who my favorite was. I never knew how much I wanted to pull for Jaimie next year until that finish right there. I know some Sterling Marlin fans don't like Jaimie because of his picture of him in the 42 flipping Sterling off. But to me, Jaimie, who last won in Sterling's car when Sterling was hurt 186 races ago, is the perfect transition. It is a lineage of family. And after all, it took Sterling more than 200 starts to find his first win.
I also am becoming less of a Tennessean as I haven't lived there in 23 years and more of a Missourian having lived there 9 years since then. I am happy. I want to share that happiness with you guys. I would appreciate no bashing. But you guys will do what you will do.
It looks like my all time favorite drivers list will look like this; Richard Petty, Darrell Waltrip, Sterling Marlin and Jaimie McMurray. Right now Jaimie doesn't hardly belong in that list. But I believe he has it in him and that there will be many more wins to come.
Well Jamie has come of his own lately. Nearly winning Sonoma, finishing better lately, and tonight, the holding off Kyle for the win. Looks like he may be on a mission the last part of this year and may win a coule more races..I certainly hope so. He deserves it.
Certainly a bad deal with a blown tire for Sterling but the real kicker was Stewart taking out his own team mate while they were 1 and 2. What a ####..
nice pic falco. i like jamie as well. he seems like such a genuine guy in interviews, really feels privileged to be doing what he does for a living. i know some folks though who don't think he payed his dues. do you know about what he was doing before working for chip?
"He started racing go-karts when he was 8 and in 1991, he won the Go-Karting Championship. In 1992, McMurray started racing in NASCAR late-model races (in Joplin at the dirt track I believe) and then raced in the NASCAR RE/MAX Challenge Series in 1998 and 1999. He then made his debut in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 1999, where he competed in 15 truck races and won 2 Bud Poles and had several top 5 and top 10 finishes. I believe he drove for Morgan Dollar Motorsports out of St. Louis. If not, I think it was another St. Louis operation. I was in St. Louis then and started following him there.
Then, Jamie moved up to the NASCAR Busch Series, where he raced full time for the 2001 and 2002 seasons for Brewco Motorsports and had 2 victories and numerous top 5 and top 10 finishes." One of his sponsors I remember was William's Travel Centers. He drove the 27 taking it over right after Casey Atwood left it I believe. Brewco is out of Kentucky so they noticed the St. Louis boy coming up I imagine and grabbed him when they had the chance.
14Falcons I am surprised that you were a Richard Petty fan. I must say I never saw that coming.
Jamie is a great young man. I think he really got the short end of the stick at Ganassi. I am happy to see that young man back in Victory Lane. You have picked a very well nice young man to pull for.
I was born in 1960 and became aware of NASCAR through "Sport" magazine, "Sport's Illustrated" magazine and "ABC's Wide World of Sports" circa 1970. Who else would have been a casual fan of the times favorite? Actually I liked both Bobby and Donnie Alison (Having a brother 18 months younger who was my best friend in the world I liked the brother thing) and Cale Yarbrough too. Had I been more than a casual fan I would have likely pulled for Coo Coo Marlin and Marty Robbins more.
I think Jamie is a cool guy. As I wrote, some Sterling Marlin fans beg to differ.
I think one of the reasons Tony is bugging me is that I deal with the same issues he does. They have cost me dearly. I just can't believe that someone in his position can't reel it in. If he can't, can I? At the moment, I do not feel that I can.
