Marlin part-time? Many drivers seem convinced that Dale Earnhardt Jr. will accept an offer to drive for Bobby Ginn [Racing #01,#13,#14], even though Ginn, a Florida real- estate developer, is new to the sport, with less than a year on the circuit. Ginn has been spending lavishly to turn the Jay Frye-run Chevy team into a top-flight operation. Driver Mark Martin led the Nextel Cup standings early this season and even after missing three of the year’s 12 races he’s still 15th in the points. Martin’s teammate #14-Sterling Marlin is planning to cut back to a partial schedule, and Ginn said that would open the 14 car and its top-35 exemption for Earnhardt.(Winston Salem Journal)(6-1-2007)
My current take is Jr. to the 14. Jr. has a lot of respect for Coo Coo Marlin and Sterling and would be proud to make the 14 a number that was truly his. Mark and Sterling could share the 01. That leaves Joe Nemechek in the 14. Regan Smith would get the new team. Craig Kinser would move up to the Busch Series.
Damn x, that was a quick comment. Yeah, it has been big news on the Sterling Board. It does a number of things.
It gives Sterling the Army as a sponsor for half of the year. Or you could see an Army/Waste Management 01 because WM likes Sterling and has agreed to sponsor him half time next year. That would leave the Army to sponsor Regan again half the time and now Ginn only needs to put Ginn Clubs and Resorts on that car the other half of the year or get Panasonic to sign up for half a year. It looks like a good fit for everyone to me.
The only loser is Craig Kinser who doesn't get to run Cup next year. But I think he needs seasoning in the Busch Series anyway. He hasn't exactly torn up the truck series. That's not a slap at him. He is one of my favorites. It's just a fact.
Dale Jr. to Ginn Racing in the 14 car would be a PERFECT fit. Unless I'm mistaken, I thought Mark Martin was going to retire after this year. In the event Martin does retire, Sterling Marlin as a part-timer in the 01 (with Regan Smith) is an excellent fit (perhaps with Marlin in the car for 10 races or so and Smith in the balance, with Smith running full-time in 2009). If Martin is part-time next year, then a Martin/Marlin combo in the 01 makes sense, with Smith getting the new team (and perhaps having Bill Elliott running the first five races to get the new team going).
Falcon-That's why, the Sterling Board. Everywhere else I've been digging hasn't had a peep about Sterling. Gotta do better homework huh? Your take puts it in perspective perfect. Now if it would become reality.
Check my links. The Sterling people found it on Jayski. Jayski had reported Martin might run a full schedule. Then they printed Martin denied it and plans to run the same number of races or the number he originally planned to run this year which is less. Then check Jayski's sources. As people have noted, I try not to spread rumors and document my sources.
I hear what u r saying about documenting and spreading rumors. I'll stick to the jokes, fun and games. After what I've written, If I tried to do a serious piece on NASCAR, people wouldn't throw me an anchor if I said I was drownin'!! I'll keep on letting you do the important stuff-you know , the professional side- You're damned good at it and I'll be the class clown-I'm startin' to think I might almost fit!
Man cut yourself some slack. You can do anything you want I bet.
One reason I don't do too much humor is I insulted some people with my first attempt at it. My sarcasm was taken wrong. So I have layed off of my lame attempts.
I still reserve my right to play the fool when commenting.
That's too weird-1st I don't want to get 2 big 4 my britches and 2nd-weird-I made a real serious and derogatory statement after only a couple days of doing this and it damned near bit me in the ####! I did enough fightin' in the Marines, don't need an enemy here! I got it cleared up and I damned sure learned something from it!
Yeah, I struggle with that too. But my personality type doesn't worry about it too much.
I am real happy with the NASCAR crowd here. But if a blogger outside that group wants to be pissy I am apt to get right in there with them. That's when 14Falcons, the character, goes dragon like Jafar, who was an avatar I used for awhile before you came on.
greetings fellow mousekateer dont get me wrong the traditionalist in me is hoping someone yanked your chain again,,because as a traditionalist i feel the best place for dale is with childress for two reasons dale would benefit from richards wisdom ,kevins fire, and burton's passion, and boyers exuberance...with dale at childress i will be so bold as to call it the dream team!!!childress is the only way dale can shed sr's foot steps second dales presence could reignite some of the fire and competive juices that understandably were lost with sr's passing this is my opinion so my two words for today are traditionalist and dream team!!!!oops make that 5 words "god bless mousekateer"
I wonder if things will quiet down and there won't be an Earnhardt-to-Team X rumor every day after a couple more weeks. It's like people are just shooting in the dark because they might be right.
I just don't think Jr. wants the pressure of working for Childress like his dad. I don't think he wants to work with Teresa on engines either. If you list the pros and cons, there are just too many cons at Childress.
Your right nobody knows. But, just look at the negatives at the other three major players.
1)Childress-not a clean break away from Sr.
2)Hendrick-The inn is full
3)Gibbs-no Budweiser sponsorship
That leaves Ginn as the clear winner. The only negative is lack of wins. But Martin is currently in The Chase running part time.
Other writers are reporting rumors. I am thinking this one through myself reading my own tea leaves. And I am not biased toward Ginn necessarily. Odds are I'll be a Roush/Fenway fan next year.
Check out the Winston Salem article and read the fan comments. What impresses me is the number of people that see the Ginn possibility. Combine that with the fact that the Winston Salem site is not the Ginn board but is a neutral site and i am really impressed.
Here is a sample comment that makes some good points.

Dale Jr. would be best at Ginn he has the money to build Jr a good team and no "Hot Shot" driver like J. Gordon or K. Harvick to have to compete for team bragging rights with. I think RCR & Hendricks would have too many complications. And when it comes to winning races look at Martin & Marlin they've been running good all year. Jr can win races and Ginn has the money to give him the car to do it in.
Falcons:
In all seriousness ( if I can use that term), Ginn Racing is about the only team with the money to set up Jr and allow Bud to continue as his sponsor. Certinly the only team where he will not have excess baggage to drag along. He will start fresh and anew with deep pockets to give him what he needs to win races if he can still drive.
I think in essence you already said this but it is my view also on a serious vein.
Shorty:
Watch your back, those buffalo chips you been dropping is getting folks a bit antsy..You are not too big for your britches yet..Just haven't filled them out, yet.. Seriously Shorty, write what you feel. To hell if other bloggers don't like it..
Deemon: Until the Jr fiasco is done, wanna race for pinks???
By the way, if the Ginn Racing deal comes true, remember that I predicted it way back when Dale Jr. became a free agent. I deserve some props if that happens.
photo narrow it down bike, car, truck,or jet boat also have slot cars and a fresh batch of kool-aid for bench racing house rule i get the harry gant manheim auto auctions cup
All my stuff is in storage in pieces in Fla. How about the slot cars with the magnesium chassis, gold braids on pivot tong, ARCA bodies, Mabuchi can motors with diamond magnets and a twist of timing on the armatures, topped off with the modified controlers with 100,00 MFD capacitors as an extra boost.
If that doesnt work, we can use RC10 Associated chassis with Fox .61 gas motors with Futaba remote controlers..
If you give me time, I can shoe horn my old ford 650 Cu. in. mountain motor with a three stage nitros system with an old Lenco tranny into an 88 Mustang for a run or two. Don't know about the tube chassis. It took a beating a few years back.
LOL.
Falcons: Nope you are not crazy.. Makes sense on Ginn Racing. Now if only Jr. has the same idea..
Falcon-Man I'm running on empty as far as sleep. No jokes-Admitted my wife to the hospital yesterday-was there all day-not much of a joking mood right now,ya know. Had to get her from work, having pain in stomach area, intestines-to the point of tears walking out of work. Keep her in your prayers and pass it along if you would, I'd greatly appreciate it-thank you. It's the not knowing that drives you crazy. Pain is easing up some but waiting on what the doc says. Take care-Shorty
{Sneak in the back door here to listen in} Falcon!!!!I came up with a compromise between us.. Maybe DW can do the VIEW when Rosie leaves Just Kidding.. Lets not forget a few things. Ginn would be a good team for Junior, butttttt, pretty new to Nascar, On the Gibbs thing, with the coach and the Christen thing and the beer sponsorship,I didn't see him refuse to coach in the NfL thats inundated with beer and alcohol advertising, so that argument loses a little validity. He's a Christian, an owner, a business man , now we just need to sit back and see which is the dominate trait. It's kind of like Charles Barkley talking about the Presidential race with Obama and Hilliary, He said in the next year everyone will know if their friends are racists or sexist.Money talks.. Be good, Falcon, settle down..Ha ha
DW on the view? Naw, put Tony Stewart on there. He'd fit right in Rosies seat without having one of his own fabricated. I'm serial.
Right now Ginn has Martin in The Chase on a part time schedule. That's all that matters. Anyone in The Chase can win a championship if the chips fall right.
Christians that are anti-alcohol but OK running for the Winston Cup have their priorities crossed in my opinion. Cigarettes kill 200,000 Americans a year. Alcohol only 20,000 (yeah, "only" 20,000)[but what the heck we are speaking comparitively here.] Nevermind 1,000,000 Americans killed by abortion each year.
