Jason Leffler was your Busch Class winner tonight in the Diamond Hill Plywood 200 at Darlington Raceway. Leffler finished 6th overall in a good showing for Toyota. And boy did they need it. Regan Smith was second in the Ginn Resorts Chevrolet, 12th overall. And Jason Keller made a most excellent return to the Busch Series finishing third in class and 14th overall.
Oh yeah, Denny Hamlin won the race followed by Mark Martin and Carl Edwards. But they are Buschwackers and that's another story. You can read about Denny Elsewhere. Love him in Cup. But here he is just another wacker.
Well they could be called the Taco Bell Clappers..
Leffler and Toyota in 6th?? Looks like some drivers can make those Toyotas work..Oh yes.. Busch drivers can use the Toyota truck engines. right??? Think it is the Cup series that restricts Toyota from using the truck engines
Finally ... Yep I had heard DW and Larry Mac talking about it on TV or was it their bloggs. They had said that Cup does not allow them to use the truck engine. Toyota had to come up with a different engine.
Smith and Leffler led 41 laps combined last night, which is the best the True Busch Series Drivers™ have done since Steve Wallace led 32 laps at Bristol.
Converted? Not quite. Did you know that Leffler actually has more career Cup starts (62) than Clint Bowyer (47)? Yet, somehow Leffler is supposed to be more of a True Busch Series Driver™?
I'm going to post my Busch points sans the Cup winners Monday, probably. Hopefully Bowyer won't win the Cup race tomorrow because I'll have to start my sheet from scratch if he does.
That is not my point! Jason was a Cup driver but is now a Busch driver even though he plans to attempt a few Cup races this year. Bowyer is currently a Cup racer. My emphasis is on the level at which the driver is currently competitive where competitive is used loosely to mean that you can qualify for more than half of the Cup races if you are attempting to do that.
I am tiring of your argumentitive stance. Write your own Busch Guy blog and rank them anyway you choose. You can even use your little TM trick. Chalk one up for a Mac.
I enjoy writing my Bush Class race results and points standings blogs and think a few people might enjoy perusing some of the names of the "Busch Guys," several of which will make up the the future Cup generation and a like number that made up the past one.
I should have elaborated a little bit. I only mentioned the number of starts the guys have because if the Busch Series is supposed to be a "developmental" series, then guys with few Cup starts should be able to drive in both series for experience, shouldn't they? It was only a means to compare.
I already have my points tabulated for the Busch guys, but I'm waiting to see if Bowyer (or whoever, I guess) wins the Cup race befre I post them.
My ideal Busch Series is a place where up and comers get to race with career "Busch Guys" as well as former Cup drivers who would run it as a "Senior Tour."
There was a beauty to seeing Jason Keller come back and run well Friday night for example. He never made it in Cup but was one hell of a "Busch Guy."
