Ward Burton Threatens Sterling Marlin
May 08, 2007 | 8:20PM | report this

"I was going to ease out not wanting to be three wide and I think the 14  hit me from behind.  He had been acting impatient there before.  I will damn sure pay him back I promise you that," stated Burton after the Jim Stewart 300 in Richmond Virginia on Sunday.

Uh NASCAR, have you sent an invitation to Mr. Burton to visit you in the big yellow trailer?  I'll be looking to see that you did.  I mean, Tony Stewart didn't threaten anyone did he?  This sure sounds like "actions detrimental to the sport of auto racing" to me.

Meanwhile Sterling Marlin was all class, "Well he's excited.  We raced hard all day and hardly touched all day.  I got loose and when you get loose you correct and the front end goes up.  If that's what he thinks that's what he thinks."

How about this Mr. Burton, the next time Dave Blaney has a little trouble and needs to slow up, don't stick your nose in the middle of a three wide situation and you will not have a problem.  When you stuck your nose in there you should have gone on with it.  Sterling thought you were and he was going behind you.  When you decided you had screwed up and checked up Sterling was committed.  You lost.  Stick to your commitment next time.  Or check up yourself next time and Sterling won't be trying to follow you through.  But if you yes, no, wait, maybe, next time, you'll get hit again.

In conclusion I have two words for Mr. Burton. "BUSCH RACING" Ward "BUSCH RACING."

You can hear it for yourself here.

Not a smart thing Ward said. Better to keep it in your roledex under who am I going to repay for the next race? Yep NASCAR probably should have said something to the good old boy.

Johnny,

No I am not a pro. I just spend a lot of time here. Naturally, most of us would like to be pros. We love to write (publish) sports and/or discuss them or we wouldn't be here.

There are some bloggers who are professionals or trained, but they do this for fun. Lee Spencer has a blog. But she just trolls more than anything to get hits for the Fox Sports main page thread. She doesn't get in here and get down and dirty with us.

We know you are in a contest. That doesn't sit well with us. We are not an "American Idol" crowd. In fact, most of us couldn't give a #### about most of that ####. That's not to say we don't individually watch reality shows. I do. I am sure others do.

But our passion is sports and we like to spend our time discussing, playing, watching and writing about sports.

If you want to get hits. Don't advertise for your damn show! Get in here in some discussions. Post something you think we might want to read. Then we might choose to discuss it with you.

Otherwise, your just trolling.

p.s. You get blog of the day by generating the most comments. If you want to do that you can write "Dale Earnhardt Sucks" and make a good run at it. Most of us like to get blog of the day when we do. But that is not why we are here. If we happen to post a good read that makes blog of the day, then we are proud of it.

NASCAR should step in and have a little ####-chat with Ward Burton. I agree, promising payback does seem like an action detrimental to stock car racing.

As far as money goes (while we're on the subject), I make no money off blogging right now, but I do admit that it is a goal of mine. Why wouldn't I want to get paid for blabbing my opinion about sports? I believe it's possible for me to make cash from blogging, but I don't envision ever making enough to earn a decent living. If i do one day have income from blogging, it will be supplemental income only.

I wasn't even that proud when I got BOTD from my Michael Vick post. Sure, BOTD is great and all, but that was far from my best work. All I did was state an opinion on an issue that, as it turns out, is quite polarizing.

Well said man. That's all I did with my IMUS blog. I added a perspective to it that hadn't been mentioned and it took off.

I have written some of my best stuff in my opinion and gotten less than five comments. But I still liked it.

Make no mistake, I'll take blog of the day anytime I happen to get lucky enough to strike the right chord with the reading public. I will not, however, post "Gordon's A ####!" just to get hits.

Johnny. Don't let them guys con you. There is good money blogging. They just don't want others cashing in on their wind falls. BOTD's gives you bonus bucks in addition to your reg. pay...And I am laughing all they way to the bank...
