For the first half and then some of Sunday's Food City 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway, Tony Stewart was performing his own rendition of the Bristol Stomp. The driver of the No. 20 Home Depot Chevrolet Impala SS for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) had led four times for a race-high 257 laps, with his nearest pursuers resigned to the fact they were running for second. But misfortune struck the No. 20 machine on lap 289 when the fuel pump cable broke. With no fuel pressure, the engine shut off, forcing Stewart to come to pit road. Crew members were able to replace the cable, but the process was lengthy.
The two-time Nextel Cup champion was able to return to the 504-lap race, albeit 25 laps down. After dominating the race, Stewart was forced to simply ride around to the finish, where he posted a gut-wrenching 35th-place result.
"The guys worked real hard, because we didn't have a really good test here," said crew chief Greg Zipadelli, referring to the team's test session at the .533-mile oval in early March. "I'm proud of everybody. They kept their chins up and came back here tough and we brought back a really good race car. But, we don't have anything to show for it. We'll go to Martinsville next week and try to have a better race."
This was a bummer for Tony but his team mate Hamlin suffered the same fate after leading the last half of the race ( double bummer).Bet that will never happen again for the Gibbs Racing Teams.
I thought one of you Stewart fans might post this. But late last night the board was still open on the Nextel Cup race. The more I thought about it, regardless of the winner, Tony was the story of the race. So I ran with it.
Yes, 8929 finally saw the real Tony. I am a die hard fan, but I understand who Tony is and accept that. It's just a shame that he has started, as I call it "being a Tony", to the fans also.
(I call it "being a Tony" because my husband is a Tony and he's just the same! I am not kidding! But I accept people it's for who they really are, not what the world thinks they are.)
You can see the pics 8929 sent me on the site, I made her a slide show.

He almost knocked the lady down. Tony did the same thing to me a few years ago. At least he didn't knock me down! I'd knocked him upside his head! He's a damn good driver though!!!
Since I'll be at Martinsville this Sunday, I'll take more pictures and send them kcjsmoket20 to post on the WFO site. That y'all can see them. I can't seem to post pics on my blogs!
The rest of the field had better be on the lookout at Martinsville. 4 out of the 5 races so far this season, Smoke has had a very dominate car. He is getting tired of not finishing 1st. Martinsville very well could be the place that he breaks out of his rut and finally puts another win on his resume.
After all they are planning on bringing the Bristol car to Martinsville. Should be a very good race for the Home Depot Team.
I put my bets on Tony this weekend! Saw him climb the fence last year at this race. Hopefully Kevin or Burton will have good cars also. They showed strength last weekend.
Hey, hope "bobdotgate" (as we're calling it at the site) doesn't get you down! boo-hoo, he's jealous! He's probably the one who left a comment about me showing favortism here.
I put up a blog to ask others what they think.
bobdotgate! We'll see. By the way I ade a relay e-mail for bloggers to use when they don't want to post an e-mail. If anyone wants you to have their e-mail or you want them to send it here, I'll forward the mail to you. This one is for the Fox Bloggers: fsbrelay@seeing20twenty.com Ican only forward mail to you and others who are contacts. It dawned on me that some want to contact each other, but don't want their address here.
