O.K.,. Mike, Kevin, back in the hole. Now, let me see who I can find to help you today.
A.J.? I hate to do this to you. But what made you think you could go from CART to Nextel Cup? Have you ever heard of the IRL? Craftsman Trucks? The Busch Series?
Son, I know, it's a hard lesson, but just because someone has faith in you, doesn't mean they are right. You have to know what you can and can't do son. You have to know your own limitations. I say, i say son, you have definitely Peter Principaled this one.
Well, like I say, I hate doin' this to ya son. But you just get on down there and help Mikey and Kevin out. Maybe if you can get Mike to shut up on TV and radio and get him back in the shop with you Toyota guys maybe, just maybe, you guys can work something out. But until then, well until then, you just help him shovel that #### right there.
A.J. must have watched a lot of basketball in the past. He figured that if you could go from High School straight into the NBA, why can’t he jump straight from CART to 3400lbs stock cars?
Heck, I can win a lot of sim races online... can I sign my contract with DEI now?
BTW: Outstanding "in your face" blog... I really like your point view on things!

I am simply astonished that TRB didn't field a full-time Busch car for AJ in addition to the Cup car. It's not necessary to compare resumes between AJ and JPM because they are on different planets in terms of experience and accomplishment, but JPM has made five Busch starts and AJ has made zero, even when there was a short-field at California and he could have just shown up in a car and run.
I don't think anyone would say that AJ has a better open-wheel resume than Sam Hornish, and even Hornish is running Busch races for Penske this year instead of a straight jump into the Cup series.
Redline's comparison to a high-school hoops superstar who jumps to the NBA is very appropriate, I think.
Good points. It is astonishing isn't it. And folks shouldn't get me wrong. A.J. was very very impressive in CART last year. But he went from zero to hero and now he is in over his head.
I agree, A.J. is not at all ready for Nextel Cup. The Red Bull folks made a huge mistake in placing so much stock in a guy with ZERO stock car experience, and then expecting him to be competitive with a brand-new team.
A.J. should be spending this season racing ARCA, Busch, Truck, Hooters Procup, anything with four wheels and fenders. They should use the program that Ginn Racing is using with Ricky Carmichal as a model for bringing along a guy new to stock cars slowly.
atleast he finally made a race, posting a fast enough time after touching the wall. it was a save only a talented driver could make, and he was faster than JPM. although i would agree that he should be running the busch series as well as the cup.
AJ WHO??? Yep, it would almost be like a 6 year old jumping from a trike to a 500cc motorcycle.Might be too big a jump at first.
The big factor is will he be a take outer to the regulars?? Take out Johnson, Stewart, Gordon, or any of the other front runners in his wrecks he will have.
