FINALLY!!!!!! After six years of playoff nothingness, including a lockout that cancelled what might've been a season for total revenge, the Wings have climbed themselves all the way back up to the top to hoist the Stanley Cup, and that is their 11th in their franchise history. You've got to give everyone credit, especially the Wings that have earned it on the ice for the first time in their careers, such as Mikael Samuelsson, Daniel Cleary, Johan Franzen, Jiri Hudler, Niklas Kronwall, Darren Helm, Dallas Drake, Valteri Filppula, Mark Hartigan, Jonathan Ericsson, Andreas Lilja, Brett Lebda, Brad Stuart, Aaron Downey, Jimmy Howard, Derek Meech, Kyle Quincey, and of course the Conn Smythe winner Henrik "Hank" Zetterberg, and even the Wings who only had to watch and cheer them on sitting on their bench, such as Chris Chelios, and of course the Dominator, Dominik Hasek because Chris Osgood had to replace him as the #1 goaltender in Game 4 of the first round against the Nashville Predators for the rest of the playoffs. 3-2 was the final in Game 6, but the Wings had to barely hold on to that lead and win, which was almost exactly like Game 5, which they didn't quite do it after leading the series, 3-1, but in Game 6 a little bit better of a lead-clinging effort. Of course the series was still won in six games, and the Red Wings, for example, had to play really good on the road, especially with a chance to clinch each and every series, which was in Nashville against the Predators, in Colorado (Denver) against the Avalanche, in Dallas against the Stars, and finally, of course, in Pittsburgh against the still pesky Penguins, who still know how to get to the playoffs and win in the playoffs. Now the questions are: "Is anyone for the Red Wings going to retire after the season's over?," "Are there any necessary moves or changes for Ken Holland (Red Wings GM) to make in this now current offseason?," "Are the Wings going to successfully defend their Cup next year?," and "Who will be the best team(s) in the next season that will challenge the Wings in the next regular season and in the next playoffs?" Who knows? There could possibly be moves and/or changes made, and their might possibly be someone retiring, but, then again, maybe not. But congrats again to the Wings for winning the Central Division, the President's Trophy, and, of course, the Stanley Cup. Most importantly, with that Stanley Cup Championship, the Wings must've earned back their monicre of "Hockeytown U.S.A." In other words, Detroit is still Hockeytown, after all. Now let's celebrate and party on!
My real name is Taylor Phillips. I live in the northest portion of McBain, Michigan. I just want to find out what's going on recently in the games with all my favorite teams, which is all I care about in terms of watching the sports on TV. I like to keep myself energized and positively motivated. Ernie Harwell, Frank Beckmann, George Blaha, and Ken Kal are my four favorite all time play-by-play sports announcers.
