    It's been a long time since I....

Tuesday, October 7, 2008, 09:49 PM EST [Sean Avery]

    Rock and Roll.  O yea.

Anyways, off the Zeppelin for  bit.  I havent been active with my blog or with commenting on the website, and I'm kinda dissapointed in it.  Right as things were starting to become solid, I go out and move in with my girlfriend.  Sorry guys, but the sporting world had to pause for like 2 days.  But now, here we are!  So much still going on in the NFL, MLB playoffs and NHL regular season.

Sporting News Magazine did an article this month on the stars acqusition of Sean Avery.  They go into detail about his first trip to Dallas, and his travels to a Childrens Hospital in the area.  There was alot of speculation about Sean Avery before this article, but now that most of Dallas has gotten to know him a little better, there seems like there is confusion.  Acdcording to the article, Sean Avery is an avid fashion follower, and actually interned with a fashion company during the playoffs last season.  This is crazy!  He's a hard nosed, in your face kinda hockey player, a guys the sport has been dying for, and also a softy who likes accesories.  Sources say that he has already begun to tease players on the Stars for their fashion "fo-pahs", and even took two of the players to a fashion show (Ribeiro and Richards I believe) .  I honestly think its insany awesome that a guy who can wave his stick in front of Brodeur's face in the middle of a playoff game has other interests way outside the realm of hockey.  I think hockey needs more personalities like his.

Sean Avery was commenting on ESPN today about how the comissioner of the NHL does a terrible job marketing the league.  When the reporter asked him if he could do a better job, Avery responded, "Yes, I could single-handedly do a better job at marketing the NHL".  I LOVE IT!  I love his carisma and his attitude and I think the Stars will shine even brighter with him on the roster!

    The little things in life

Monday, September 29, 2008, 06:35 PM EST [Matt Bryant]

The DOW fell again.  778 points, a single day record drop.  Well... At least we have sports.

Matt Bryant (kicker for Tampa Bay) lost his 3 month old son on saturday, the day before an important game with Green Bay.  He did more than his part including the PAT that put the Bucs ahead 30 - 21, leading them to victory.  During his time of mourning, he delivered, reminisent of Brett Favre, after his father passed away.  Sports are an outlet for us when things go bad.  Or in Bryant and Favres case, unimaginable.  Ones character sure does blossom when making the best of a terrible situation.  To Matt Bryant, you are truely a hero.  For your team, and for all who know what its like to lose someone.

Politics, Economics, money - what I like to call an unecessary thresholds of our daily lives, seemingly take control at times.  I pay no attention to it, and try to live my life according to the way I want.  Sure, I pay taxes, I drive a car, I use fuel, but since we CANT controll these things, doesnt mean we cant ignore them.  I draw my attention to guitar, sports, books, my girlfriend and my family.  People like Matt Bryant make our struggles as a nation seem irrelevant, and maybe someday we can realize that there are more important things in life.

    Coaching kills.

Sunday, September 28, 2008, 09:11 PM EST [DallasCowboys]

The Dallas Cowboys have the best team in football, period.  When it comes down to pure talent, teamwork and playmaking ability, no one in the league compares.  They have been acclaimed early on as the Superbowl favorites, due to their talent and coaching staff.  This week, however didn't reflect the hype.

Whether or not Wade Phillips or Jason Garrett is to blame, someone was at fault, and for a change it wasnt the players.  The obvious change of the game plan on sunday vs the Washington Redskins completly reflected the outcome of the game.  Forcing the ball to Terrell Owens, seemingly to make him happy, threw of the team chemistry as a whole.  Romo, throwing over forty times, sometimes in normal running situations was completly uneccesary.  One could say that the coaching staff panicked, and felt that they were further behind than they actually were.  How could the Cowboys think they could win with Barber getting only 8 touches!  All of which were rushing plays.  Not once did Romo throw to Barber or FELIX!  Both players account for 6 touchdowns in the first 3 games, and now the coaches want to take them out of the game?  I dont understand the play calls, and I dont understand the change of heart on a very important divisonal game at home.  Now the division is as tight as it could ever be, and all 4 teams are showing imense potential for the playoffs.

Felix Jones, a rookie, has been a huge difference maker in the first three games of the season, and against Washington, the only touches he got were on kickoffs.  Stupid coaching!  Absolutly idiotic.

Terence Newman, a probowler, had mistackles, missed sacks, and consistently inconsistent coverage.  He looked like a junior high corner back.

Were lucky Ware wasnt hurt too bad, hopefully Ellis isnt either.

If the Cowboys want to be taken seriously, the coaches better get it together.  This one is DEFINATLY on them, no questions asked!

    change of heart

Saturday, September 27, 2008, 01:35 AM EST [Boston Red Sox]

when the 2008 MLB started, i was appaled when the angels made a move for tori hunter. I said from day one, that the angels would win the world series (off the record). when they made a move for 'big tex' tiexria (sp) it made my pick even more legit. as hard as it was to pick a team from the rangers division to win it all, again, was very difficult for me. however, after the angels have cliched (almost months ago it seems) my opinion has changed. today, september 26th, the rangers whooped the angels 12 to 1 in john lackeys worst start of HIS CAREER. there could be no worse time for this to happen for the first team to clinch their division and a playoff spot. john lackey said after the game, obviously concerned more with his first start against the red sox, that ''this will not affect my games against boston''. after this performance, agaisnt a non competitor whos loses on a regular basis to the red sox (the rangers) im led to believe that the angels will not win the world serious, let alone the first round agaisnt boston. so! here are my updated world series picks! national league: los angelas dodgers (suprise team, and joe torre owning the fuckin yanks) american league: boston red sox (continuing the demolishon of the 'curse' that they love to blame their losing seasons on)

    another shocker!

    Friday, September 26, 2008, 04:07 PM EST [Big 12]

First and foremost, I just want to appoligize for the gramatical and spellin mishaps that you might see in this post. I am indeed at work, and writting all of this via my Blackjack 2... I want to dabble on the wonderful world of college football and the BCS (who isnt, after the Oregan state, USC game). Yes, number one has been de-throwned again, only this time its the all mighty Trojans that fell! No one ezpected this, except maybe some intelligent Oregan State fans. They obviously have some history with beating USC, which is considered an upset from almost any other teams prespective. Now that the 'best' team in the nation has lost to a virtual nobody, the title game is literally up for grabs. dependin on how the rest of the season unfolds, you may see any team ranked in the top 12 or so actually have a chance at winning it all. this may not be that big of a suprise for teams like georgia, missouri, oklahoma, forida, or even USC or Ohio state, but it definatly changes things for a team like texas tech. TTU flies pretty low under the radar every year, and with their explosive offensive, they could really shake things up. with wins agaisnt Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri, one could say that Texas Tech actually has a chance at the title game, or at least a top bowl game. the only way this is possible is if ttu wins out, pretty much against all their divisional teams... im not big into college football, but to see tech's potential this year makes it all pretty excitng...im sure itll just end up being lsu, texas, osu, usc, forida, missouri or georgia again...im not expecting too much
