Defense wins...

Cowboys: 5 - 3 Stars: 3 - 4 - 2 Brad Johnson knows howto win a Superbowl. What the Cowboys have to realize is howto win them with Brad as the starting QB. As long as Romo is out, the Cowboys have to play Johnsons style of football. This does not include throwing deep to satisfy Owens, or even throwing the ball 35 + times a game. Running the ball, grinding out games, and stout defense, just like the Buccanears had when they won it all, is the way the Cowboys have to go as long as Romo isnt playing. Even if Romo comes back, maybe this physical style should stick with the Cowboys through the playoffs, and possibly get us a playoff win!
Everyone "had a feeling" about how strong the Cowboys were going to be this year, and just because of 3 early losses, most people dont even consider them a playoff team. This is non-sense. We have a very tough schedule in front of us, and I guarentee to all you doubters, fair-weather fans, and Jason Whitlocks of the sports world that the Cowboys will goto the playoffs, and be superbowl favorites after stomping the Giants (at least once) Philly again, the Redskins (they wont sweep the season series), the Steelers and the Ravens. With deciding V's over those teams, the Cowboys will have huge momentum going into the playoffs, and they WILL be unstopable.

Here are the records for all dallas teams in action: Cowboys: 4-3 next game: Tampa Bay in Dallas Stars: 2-3-1 (5 pts, second place in division) next game: Wednesday at New Jersey Mavs: Preseason. First game: October 30th Houston at Dallas Now that thats over with. I wanna talk about the slow start the Stars got off to this year. A couple of brutal losses, and a heartbreaker in overtime had Dallas drop significantly in the early season rankings. From 3rd, to 23rd (Im sure its changed after beating the Rangers). Much could be said as to why the Stars started off so poorly - Turco's play, defensive struggles and too many penalties, but one stat will solidfy the answer. Prior to Mondays game in New York, the Dallas Stars gave up the 3rd least amount of shots in the entire NHL, but gave up the most goals. Its kind of decieving because it makes it look like Turco is all at fault. Yes, he didnt play nearly as well as he could, but the defense was non-existent in those games. Many people are already jumping on the "dump Turco" band wagon, which happens on a yearly basis, but as soon as the Stars get big wins when they need them, Turco is a God. Once again, Dallas should be known as the capital for fair-weather fans. As hard as it is to say, especially with the Stars, but half the audience are business men who couldnt give a shit about the team. Its just "an event" to goto. And once the Stars look bad, they start shit talking. There is no consistency with some Dallas organizations. As a matter of fact, the only one that has been an iconic sports teams known throughout the world would be the Cowboys. The blue Star automatically registers as the Dallas Cowboys, where as the Dallas Stars and Mavericks have longed for changing logos as well as the Identity of the teams. Example:
before After
some failed attempt... really the 2nd generation jersey
and the current jersey.
Real franchises, real teams do not change logos, and do not change jerseys. Do you see the New York Yankees switching every year? How about the Detroit Red Wings? How about the Dallas Cowboys? If any of these teams changed their logos, or jerseys, the city would riot. Some Dallas teams just cant seem to make up their minds. Personally, I like the new ones, and hope they stick to them for a long time (Stars). As for the Mavericks, I do not seeing this logo as the long term Mavs logo. Im sure itll be changed in another 20 years or so. Tags:

[Dallas Cowboys]
The Cowboys have not won a playoff game in over a decade. Comming into the season, the self proclaimed superbowl champs had it all going for them. My have things changed. This last game against the Rams isnt my focal point, hpwever I do want to touch on a few things. Regardless if Tony Romo had played, it probably would have ended very similarly. There was NO offensive line AGAIN, so you cant blame Brad Johnson. The INTS also werent entirely the QBs fault, so we'll give him a break there too. Where he did struggle was consistently passing to only one or two recievers. Witten had a big game, and Crayton had more passes thrown to him than Owens and the newly aquired Roy E. Williams. The offense struggled, again, over-powered by one of the worst teams in the league. Defense was non-existent except for Damarcus Ware. 3 sacks in the game for Ware puts him a top of the leader boards in that catagory. It must be so frustrating for the best Defensive player in the league to be opperating on seemingly one of the worst defenses. Although ruined by injury, they're still not playing like professionals. Injuries: Hurd (I think), Romo (hopefully not or long), Roy Williams (safety, although he did play against the Rams), McBriar, Newman, Felix Jones, and a couple more, not to mention the Pacman suspension. Im not giving up on this team. If we can get wins against our divisional opponents, then we still stand a good chance at making a run in te playoffs. I hope our timesof struggle do not last long, and I hope they dont return in the playoffs. Watch out Wade Phillips...2 or 3 more games like this and you might be watching Jason Garret start his era as the Cowboys coach. Tampa Bay...shit.. Tags:

[Mike Modano]
After attending the Dallas Stars game last night, I began to wonder about MIke Modano. When will his time be up? Who will replace him as the face of the franchise? Will Modano be a part of the organization when he retires? But then I started to think more along the lines of his accomplishments with the Stars franchise over all these years. We all know he is the all time American goal scorer and points leader (assists and goals), but does this make him one of Americas BEST athletes? OR does he STILL float under the radar of big name superstars in other sports? When I think of American Athletes, certain names come to mind, especially olympians like Michael Phelps or Michael Johnson. But when I put names of American athletes who compete on an anual basis in an American league, names more like Kobe, and Jordan come to mind. Why is it that Americas all time goal scorer gets no credit? Jeremy Roanik is in 2nd place in the catagory, and hardly anyone in Texas knows who he is! Especially in Texas, fans are more familiar with the Emmitt Smiths, the Troy Aikmans, and the Jason Kidds. For some reason, hockey isnt a factor for American sports viewers. IN FACT, the hockey segments on ESPN are always considered as a joke! Poor Barry Melrose isnt even the hockey specialst any more because of all the flack he gets for being a hockey expert! This is shameful! Mike Modano deserves more credit. As an American, as a member of the NHL for 20 years, and for still flying high leading the Dallas Stars in points this season again! One more Cup for his place in international history! Not just American... Tags:
