    Celts won't repeat.

Friday, October 10, 2008, 10:32 AM EST [NBA]

After a spectacular turn around season for the Boston Celtics, from worst to first in one season, their championship days are numbered for at least a couple of more seasons.  Other teams in the NBA have made moves similar to the ones that Boston made last off season.  Here are the teams to watch, the teams who will make up most of the playoffs.

    1) The Portland Trailblazers:  Greg Oden will finally play a regular season game.  Depending on his health, he could lead the Trailblazers to the promise land.  With the help of Brandon Roy, one of the leagues many up-and-comming point guards, the Blazers could make a serious run in the playoffs this year, and I expect them to.

    2)  Miami Heat:  Last seasons move to get Shawn Merion looked pretty lame, seeing how they ended as one of the worst teams in the East, but dont expect the same this year.  A healthy Dwayne Wade and newly aquired Michael Beasly will surely land them a spot in the playoffs.  We all saw what Wade can do when he's healthy, after almost single-handedly beating the Mavs in the NBA championship 2 years ago (or was it 3?) and being the brightest star among a team of stars in the olmpics - carrying the USA to its first gold medal in what?  6 years?  Regardless I expect great things from D-Wade and the Miami Heat this year.

    3)  Toronto Raptors:  Allthough they remain week at somepositions, they have 2 players who will make everyone around them better.  Chrish Bosh (another real deal player in the olympics) and newly aquired Jermaine Oneal.  Alot of people think that Oneal is over-rated, and not worth the money, but he will definatly have a serious impact on the raptors season.  Most teams in the league cant come up with one strong "big man" and the Raptors have TWO All-Star centers that the East will have to deal with.

    4)  LA Lakers:  PAo Gasols first full season with Los Angelos (sp? hah) could be one to remember.  I have a feeling that the Lakers will dominate the Western Conference, and maybe even win it all this year.  The competition in the West is thinning, where as the EAst is getting more difficult.  I expect LA to be at the top on the standings come playoff time.

    5)  New Orleans Hornets:  The only team I expect to give LA any sort of trouble in the West.  What was the wild wild west has now become the 2 team division.  I dont see any other teams putting up much of a challenge in this divion.  Watch Chris Paul have another breakout year and lead his team to the playoffs once again.

    6) Houston Rockets and Utah Jazz:  Utah went pretty far in the playoffs last season if I remember correctly,l and I expect them to make the playoffs again.  Its time for their coach to start winning when it matters, hes only been there for like 20 years and never won much of anything.  Rockets need to win more than anyone else.  With the talent on that teams, especially now with Ron Artest, if they dont win, you can expect a full fledge make-over in Houston.

    7)  Phillidelphia 76'ers:  All I have to sy is ANDRE IGUODALA and ELTON BRAND.....too bad Baron DAvis couldnt join them.  My money would be on the 76'ers in a heart beat.

Teams I dont much care for this year:  Dallas, San Antonio, Golden State, LA Clippers, Boston Celtics, NETS, KNICKS, and everyother team not worth mentioning.
