    Your Musical Tastes

Monday, April 9, 2007, 09:03 PM EST [General]

I thought it would be cool to see what all the bloggers listen to in their spare time. ( I realize this has nothing to do with sports, but really none of my blogs do). I'll get the ball rolling, here are a few of my favorite albums

Exile on Main St.- The Rolling Stones

Definetly on of my favorite albums. Although when it came out in 1972 it was greeted with so so reviews, it is now considered to be their best work. Mick and Keith are at their best, and vastly underated guitarist Mick Taylor shines as well

    Three tracks I'd recommend

Rocks Off, Rip This Joint, Tumbling Dice

    Quadrophenia- The Who

A "Rock Opera" by the who, that unfourtunately stands in the shadow of its prequel Tommy. About a Mod child, who is incredibly frustrated about his life, Pete and Roger deliver on this gut busting classic.

    Three tracks I'd recommend

The Real Me, The Punk and The Godfather, Love Reign O'er Me

The Battle of Los Angeles- Rage Against The Machine

(I couldn't go all classic rock) Generally know for their politics, RATM's music sometimes got lost in the mix. Even if you don't agree with what they're saying, every song on here is great. Every sound produced on the album is produced by either guirtar, bass, drums , or vocals (which is quite amazing due to the sound effects)

    Three songs I'd recommend

Testify, Sleep now in the Fire, Maria or Mic Check (can't decide)

    Led Zeppelin II

And we're back to the past. Generally regarded as their 1st or 2nd best album, LZ delivers on 9 songs of bliss. Page's guitar wails, Bonzo's drums crash, and Plant and Jonesy mix it up with vocals and bass.

    Three songs I'd recommend

Whole Lotta Love, Ramble on, Bring it on Home

    Revolver

Good way to close it out. Befor this album the beatles were know as the biggest pop band in the world. But this album litteraly changed music as we know it. With backwards lyrics (Rain) Tamboura (Tommorrow Never Knows) and rants against the government (Taxman) John, Paul, George, and Ringo changed their image, and produced their best album

    Three songs I'd recommend

She Said She Said, Tommorrow Never Knows, Elenor Rigby

Well those are 5 of my favorite albums. Let's hear yours.

My Favorite Comedians (in no order)

Saturday, February 10, 2007, 08:30 PM EST [General]

Do you like to laugh? Are you unsensitive to language? Have you ever fallen off from your couch from laughing too hard? If you answered yes to all these questions, then i encourage you to watch the following videos

Note: All Descriptions of comedians taken from wikipedia

    Richard Pryor

Richard Franklin Lennox Thomas Pryor III (December 1, 1940 - December 10, 2005) was a legendary American comedian, actor, and writer.

Pryor was a gifted storyteller known for unflinching examinations of race and custom in modern life, and was well-known for his frequent use of colorful language, vulgarities, as well as such racial epithets as "nigger," "honky" and "cracker." He reached a broad audience with his trenchant observations, although public opinion of his act was often divided. He is commonly regarded as the most important stand up comedian of his time: Jerry Seinfeld called Pryor "The Picasso of our profession."[3]; Whoopi Goldberg cited him as her biggest influence, stating "The major influence was Richard - I want to say those things he's saying."

    Sam Kinison

Samuel "Sam" Burl Kinison (December 8, 1953 - April 10, 1992) was an American stand-up comedian and actor.

Kinison was famous for his raunchy humor and wild, colorful outfits. A former revival-style preacher, his standup routines were most often characterized by intense, angry ranting in the vein of his friend and fellow comedian Bill Hicks, and also punctuated by his trademark primal scream.

    Rodney Dangerfield

    George Carlin

George Dennis Carlin (born May 12, 1937 in New York, New York) [1] is a Grammy-winning American stand-up comedian, actor, and author.

Carlin is especially noted for his irreverent attitude and his observations on language, psychology, and religion along with many taboo subjects. In fact, Carlin and his "Seven Dirty Words" comedy routine were central to the 1978 U.S. Supreme Court case F.C.C. v. Pacifica Foundation, in which a narrow 5-4 decision by the justices affirmed the government's right to regulate Carlin's act on the public airwaves.

George Carlin's stand up routine is primarily focused on the short comings and flaws of modern day America. He often takes on political issues and normal issues of mainly America.

He is considered by many to be a successor to the late Lenny Bruce and was described by Comedy Central as the second greatest stand-up comedian of all time behind Richard Pryor. [2]
