    XLI not only Rex's fault

Tuesday, February 6, 2007, 05:48 AM EST [super bowl]

The media, the so called "experts" who picked the Saints to beat the Bears (what were they thinking?), will be bashing Rex Grossman this week about the game Sunday night. But was it all his fault? No, and here's why.

Yes Rex threw two interceptions and fumbled twice, one of them the most embarassing fumbles he'll ever make. He fumbled the snap, regained control of the bal, and then let  it slip right under his legs. But it wasn't only his fault. The defense did cause two fumbles, which they only picked up on, and one interception, but only one sack on Peyton Manning will not get it done. Special teams started off well with a Hester runback, but then they kicked away from Hester and nobody else stepped up. Plus, Ron Turner and Ron Rivera should have called better plays. Perhaps running the ball more.

Don't blame this game only on Rex. I think Rex, now that he has found out what pressure is like, is more experienced and will come back next year and play for the Bears. He'll have a good season, but now for me it's back to the Cubs.

I'd also like to congratulate the Colts on their XLI victory and thank the Bears on a great season.
