The much anticipated game between the Falcons and Saints is just a few days away. While most think the game is going to be the center-piece of this event of the Dome re-opening after it virtually being destroyed not only by hurricane Katrina but by some of the individuals that were sheltered there. Speaking first hand what went on during those days, while yes we can get into the debate of fault and blame W, or Nagin or bumbling Blanco, no one has ever said anything about what happened there and the things that were done to human beings and the Dome that are too horrible to mention here. Just the fact that the Dome is going to be re-opened is the event not the game. While yes the beer will flow and be spilt along with the cheese nachos on the person next to them and the smell of urine will once again replace the newness of the refurbished dome the game is just the side event. Yes the season ticket holders are glad to see their beloved Saints again in New Orleans but these same individuals are still viewing Benson and his traveling sideshow with great skepticism. He has been too quiet since his mouth, inaction, and side dealings left a bad taste in the mouth of all Saints fans. New Orleanians love their Saints they are just not to thrilled with the man that owns it or his family. So let
Burban Street once again come to some life and the people go forth and tell everyone from here forward that New Orleans is open for business, the people are still entertaining to watch and the Saints fans say that this is their year to reach the top. Well at least until next year.

The national association for the deaf is suing the Washington Redskins so they can have closed-captioning at FedEx Field. It's amazing that a law suit would have to be filed and that the Redskins organization is going to fight it. But the Redskins are considering given those hearing impaired individuals a 7 inch monitor so they can read what the penalty or special announcement , etc. Have they considered what if those individuals have vision problems a tiny, fuzzy 7 inch monitor could severely cause damage to an all ready poor eye sight. How about hiring Garrett Morris and he will handle all hearing impaired announcements. Or here is a better idea, you know that big scrolling screen that most stadiums have or the huge jumbo trons, well here is a novel idea put closed captioning on those... who wudda thunk it.

The big controversy with USC is that Brent Musberger revealed privileged information which could cost USC wins. Well first of all get over yourself USC and other team that believes that the "special" signals are a big secret to other teams. It's not like the defense is going "hey he patted himself on the head what on earth could he being doing?" is he signaling a space ship so he can be called to his home planet. It's not like other teams have code breakers working for them inputting data into the FBI or CIA's super computer trying to reveal what a pat on the helmet means. USC or any other school that has this complaint is just full of themselves, as we all know USC is anyway, and if Pete Carol speaks the media runs like panting dogs to record every syllable as they wait to be "peted" on the head and told to run along now and print my every word and praise the ol' mighty Pete and USC...HOO RHA...
What amazes me most is that somebody wrote an article about this just as they continue to write about Maurice "convict" Clarett and at this point I could care less if I spell his name correctly. Let him rot but I am sure the day he gets out some sport writer will have his lead story being "dipstick released from prison" and what a model prisoner he was and how he has changed and he regrets what he did and he found GOD and how he was not able to see his baby grow up...just a minute I have to vomit.
So please lets say something about how these teams in college and the pros are doing and not what some slug thinks (I mean sports writer) about the USC' s feelings. No one cares. Lets talk about the San Diego Chargers and why they drafted Ryan Leaf back in the day. That is always funny...

Do you feel like I do that so far this season of the NFL is just well boring as hell? No team is staking any claim to anything at this point except maybe the Steelers that are trying to fight off the perception that they are an average team because the wheels on the bus are no longer going round and round. All this talk about Brett Favre should be traded, or benched, or retire or whatever. Its Brett's decision and he is the best QB playing in the pros today. Put him on the giants, or any team that has an O-line that can block for more than 1 second and he will shred you to pieces. He dang near shredded the saints and pulled it out with a sub par O-line and receivers that are trying to learn their respective roles on each play. So until he retires if you get the chance to see him in action take it, enjoy it and bring a camera. I saw him last year play the saints and watched him in warm ups, during the game and had the opportunity to get some very nice pictures of him and he was as gracious as he could be. A class act that when he is done he will let us know. Now the saints, is hell freezing over or will the saints implode as they normally do? My bet is 9 & 7 but with struggling division they will probably come out on top and make the playoffs. And you people that Katrina was bad news!!! What's wrong with the raiders? I think if anybody needs to retire and go to the old folks football owners home its Al Davis. Yes at one time he was the man that seemed to be able to pull the best out of some of the oddest and worst characters in football with some very talented players thrown in to make that perfect team gumbo. But it seems his day has passed like grease through a goose. When the camera pans on him and I see his sullen look or maybe it can best be described as a cow looking at a new gate. He knows what it is but just can't figure out why it is. The glory days of the raiders have long since passed and what remains is just a smelly pile of goose grease. Maybe the season will get better, maybe the competition will heat up or maybe its this new Monday night lineup on ESPN that has me all upset because its just not the same. The Monday night climax to the big weekend of football now seems its just a joke and corporate greed taking over what us purists once believed was sacred ground.

I am just finishing reviewing the questionable play calling during the LSU Auburn game and let me tell you something Mr. and Mrs. sports fan. LSU got screwed, not once, not twice, not three times, but five times. Lets break them down.
First questionable call made when Hestor made a catch for the first down. He took two steps, which is considered a "football move" the defender swatted at the ball in which it was knocked loose between the second and third step. The ball hit the ground between the third and fourth step then bounced out of bounds. This by all technical purposes and the rules is a complete pass with a fumble, ball rolls out of bounds. Possession LSU and a first down. Instead ruled incomplete and ball goes over to Auburn.
Second questionable call. Fumble recovery. Auburn receiver catches the pass and is being tackled. Jessie Daniels comes in and knocks the ball out of the receivers grasp before his knees, legs; butt on any part of his body is down on the field. The ball clearly is out. Receiver is called down by contact. No fumble.
Third questionable call. The pass interference in the end zone David Irons commit against the LSU freshman receiver. Irons is beat on the play. While the ball is in the air and the LSU receiver is turning to catch the ball, Irons with his back to the ball runs into the receiver grabbing his right arm with his left and reaches in with his right and grabs the waste of the receiver. Irons never turns to the ball. No call on this play. Incomplete pass.
Fourth questionable call. Holding on 77 LSU which negates a completed pass to the LSU tight end and a first down. Number 77 starts blocking one Auburn player and a second Auburn player moves to the outside pass rush lane. The LSU tackle picks up the rushing defender with his left arm on the outside of the defensive lineman's body, not touching or abating his progress and his right arm into the defenders chest. This was called holding. If he would have boxed or grabbed the DL with his left arm yes. He did not.
Fifth questionable call. The reverse on the pass interference against Early Doucet at the 3 yard line. The pass interference begins at the nine yard line. The defender begins to hold the receivers arm at the nine pulling the arm. At the five yard line the defender begins to tackle the receiver as the receiver begins to try to jump to the ball. So according to the SEC officials if the ball is tipped then there is no foul unless the interference begins before the tip, in this case it does, and if it is determined by the official on the field that the ball uncatchable because of the tip then the interference does not matter either way. So if you are interfered with for 6 yards before the ball is tipped, tackled during the process of the tip which takes you out of any contention to make any recovery to try to make any play on the ball which the tape clearly shows its just too bad.
As the announcer said "I don't know how they can do that" referring to the overturned calls, non calls in the game. I said earlier that we should be taking about the players and the game and try to get past this but when I received the tape for review and did a frame by frame analysis it is obvious how bad the officiating was at this game. At least the PAC 10 had the courage to suspend the officiating crew for the Oregon and OU game and they are discussing the probability of deleting it from the records. Maybe the SEC can muster the same courage with at least suspending the officiating crew and unfortunately the game cannot be a do over for all involved. I feel sorry for any team that has to lose a game due to piss poor officiating. I also feel sorry for Auburn when they go to Death Valley next year.
