    It's all about sex...

Friday, March 9, 2007, 08:01 AM EST [College Basketball]

I checked the Forbes list of billionaires and my lottery tickets and since I did not win the lottery and fell just a mere billion dollars short of the Billionaires list I figured what the hell lets first talk about sex....

It seems, and I heard this some time ago from some people I know at LSU about Pokey Chatman and the allegations but does it really matter to anyone if she had a sexual relationship with a former player? Well I guess it does to some and I think she made the right move to remove herself from the team. Maybe Bertman did have her removed as some I have talked too suggested but who really cares about her sex life anyway. I don't as long as she was not having sex with current players then what's the story besides the media trying to make into something. Now with the on coming tourney that will be the story not the team or any team that plays LSU in the tourney that will be a secondary thought and that is the sad part.

A recent poll asked if we as fans cared about the conference tourneys in the NCAA basketball. It was split about 30% all the way around from "don't care" to "better than nothing" and "it's better than sex."  (Those poor confused bastards). Trying to stick with part of the theme. I like to see the conference tourneys and I believe it motivates the teams and some players to perform. In the conference tourneys you can have a team that is in the middle of the pack sitting on the cusp to a possible invite, or not, to the 64 and because of a great showing or conference win are able to get that invite. Sometimes its part of the business of the game to get that media darling into the mix so the rating rise a little more press which all makes money. I think it's great because this allows us sports junkies' time until the NFL draft and other sports before they begin to click in our respective sports filled minds that get blogged down with things such as work and family (which always seems to interfere with sports what a shame). As fans we can watch our favorite teams and see those teams that we can only see during the conference tournaments and talk smack about them.

So what the poll tells us is that we enjoy the conference tourneys and 30% would just rather get right into the NCAA tourney or the NIT and just get it all over with. For me the best time in college basketball is the conference tourneys and the NCAA and NIT tourneys and that is the same in baseball. The tourneys are better than the regular season it seems which at times seems to drag on forever.

I need to call Teve Torbes and make sure I am really not on the list...
