Why I don't believe NASCAR or any type of auto racing is a true sport. Many of us love auto racing as I do. It can be very exciting but it is an event that is more enjoyable to see in person than on television. It is an event that you have to be there. If you have never been to a NASCAR race or any type of auto race you really need to go and experience it first hand. It is not like the old stock care races of old when the drivers were encouraged to roll or crash their beat up muscle machine of old so they could get the case of beer award. The event has grown into a big business with the likes of David Letterman, Paul Newman and other well healed celebrity's throwing their money into the pit for a chance to see their team win. What you don't experience from TV is the sight and sound of the cars on the track, the inner track has its own side show always going on and just like football you have the pre-event activities and some are unique and some just bizarre and as bizarre as those that partake.
I have a close friend that has raced all his life. He started in the ol crash circuit and worked his way up into the more lucrative "hard" track circuit. He is a man, like his counterparts, that's only skill is being an excellent driver that understands the dynamics of auto racing. That is it. So he is in the top
