EPICA is a Danish band that has a huge cult following in Europe and they are rapidly gaining notoriety in the USA. Led by flame-haired goddess Simone Simons, and backed by a power metal band, the juxtaposition of her operatic mezzo-soprano voice set against a heavy metal soundtrack is one of the latest, and brightest, stars in the "symphonic metal" or "opera metal" universe. Epica have quite a few videos that you can see on YouTube. I recommend the videos "Quietus", "Solid Ground", and the hilariously campy gothic "The Phantom Agony". See also a video I have posted here called "The Haunting", which is a duet with Simone and Roy Khan from KAMELOT. Simone is as talented as she is beautiful, and is a mega-star in the making.
