Reading sign Ecuador's De La Cruz

Reading signed Ecuador's World Cup defender Ulises De La Cruz on Friday on a one-year deal, the English Premiership club said.

The 32-year-old right-back, who left Aston Villa at the end of last season, said that "I have been training with the players for the last few days and really enjoyed it."

"I will work hard for a place in the side. I want to keep playing for my country so I need to get into the Reading team."

De La Cruz had played 99 games for Villa in a four-year stint.
