    GIANT MOVE...

Thursday, March 1, 2007, 08:51 PM EST [General]

Our good friend Adam Caplan from scout.com and Sirius NFL Radio has learned that the Giants have re-signed center Shaun OHara.

This is nothing short of enormous.

Talks came to a hault after Dallas' deal with fellow center Andre Gurode.

But OHara was a main priority of the Giants.  You cannot replace his steady play and leadership.  And he's a Jersey guy who wanted to stay home.  The Giants needed this type of continiuty on the line.

    Let the games begin...

For the record, it is socially acceptable to wish someone a "Happy Free Agency Period."  I have.  It works.

2 AFC North teams make very smart moves to keep their own before midnight.

I really like the Steelers re-upping with Najeh Davenport.  I know the Steelers were very happy with what the big back did in limited work this year.  And now he will have a full offseason to be with the club.

Pittsburgh doesn't need a big back like Jamal Lewis.  The Steelers don't need a complementary back.  The needed a second string.  Willie Parker is the carry the mail running back.  He really impressed the Steelers with his durability and his running between the tackles.  Davenport is the perfect back-up and he'll get some goal-line carries and short yardage opportunities.

And good move by the Browns keeping Hank Fraley and the center position.  He did a nice job last year, is a team leader, and you didn't want to risk losing him via free agency and starting over.  I'll be stunned if LeCharles Bentley plays this year.
