    A Mixed Message?

Friday, September 21, 2007, 05:32 PM EST [General]

Now back up the bus-(or the car hauler as it were)

When Dale Jr. announced his move to HMS-

The crowds (after some shock) said  YES! Great idea!

    A whole new start.

When Dale Jr announced that Tony Eury Jr. was moving with him to HMS

The crowds (after some grumbling) said YES! That's what we need to be the best!

When Dale Jr. stated that he wanted to win in the #8 car before the year was out

The crowds said YES! We have what we need to do that if we all believe in Dale Jr. and his crew, it CAN happen.

Now it is reported that Tony Eury Jr. is going to HMS after Talladega to get to know the set-up over there.

Leaving Jr with an interim crew chief. (Tony Gibson)

The crowds (without hesitation) say YES! That is such a great idea this is all good!1!1

    How can this be?

I  refuse to put on my sheep costume. I do not understand  (if they are the BEST team),why they would break-up the pair when they have just a few chances to 'bust a nut' and get a win in the #8 car.

Dale Jr. is not my favourite-esses BFF driver of all time, no, but I like the kid and I like what he is trying to do for himself and his fans. What I have a problem with is what I perceive as a very confusing move.

And the fact that all the responses I have read have been fans and common-taters alike praising this 'brilliant' idea.

If Dale Jr is just 'doin' time in the seat' until the season is over, that is one thing. But I don't think that was the intent.

Please note the crowds  are not all Dale Jr. fans and all Dale Jr. fans are not the crowds

I have used this generalization with poetic  license .

    A 'Country Club' Track?

Wednesday, August 29, 2007, 05:08 PM EST [NASCAR]

    Update 10/26/07

If NASCAR executives are looking for a track in the Pacific Northwest for expansion of their Nextel Cup series, Bill Gardner might be the man to talk to. Gardner, the "Gard" in DiGard, the historic NASCAR teams from the 1970s and early 1980s that carried Darrell Waltrip for a while, is working on what is proposed as a $100 million speedway to be called Pacific Northwest Motorsports Park near Portland, Ore. Groundbreaking was set for this week, with a number of local and state politicians on hand. It was unknown if Oregon governor Ted Kulongoski would be there. The track, apparently to be similar in style to Virginia International Raceway in Danville, would include a six-mile road course in several configurations. It is to be completed by the fall of 2008. -- Winston-Salem Journal

For many years my little neck of the woods has been pulling out all the stops we could to get a Track capable of hosting NASCAR and other events.

    This summer we got this.

    Pacific Northwest Motorsports Park

"The first luxury motorsport country club to be built in the Pacific Northwest, PNMP will have approximately 400 exclusive memberships for both individuals and corporations and the potential to attract sanctioned premier race events such as IRL, Champ Car, IMSA, Grand American, American LeMans, SCCA, AMA and NASCAR."

    A Country Club?

    Here is the proposed course.

I don't see anything like we were told we were fighting for. Hell, I don't even see a place for an oval (or shape thereof)

Membership fees for a track that may never see a sanctioned race? Just a big playground? what?

If it ever gets built. Construction update here.

    I mean alleged construction update.

I am not a big road course fan and this just makes me mad-sad-disillusioned- and-and other stuff!

There is a little 1/3 mile track here that has my heart, but after that one trip to Talledegga, I really want the big boys to come and play in my back yard!

So, that said, have any of you readers out there live in an area where an outfit like this has "come to town"? Does this sound a bit fishy to you?

This is my first time (here anyway) So buy me a drink first!
