    Say adios to the Chorizo

Wednesday, August 2, 2006, 03:15 PM EST [Milwaukee Brewers]

When the news first broke about a mystery meat - later revealed to be the Chorizo - being added to the Milwaukee Brewers' famed Miller Park Sausage Race, we steered clear of the story.

Frankly, we didn't think there was anything odd about a press conference being called to announce that a new nine-foot foam sausage (wearing a sombrero, no less) would be joining the four existing nine-foot foam sausages in an almost-nightly competition to determine the fastest nine-foot foam sausage on the planet.

    That's just us.

But MLB forcing the Brewers to put the Chorizo back in the refrigerator after just one race - a disappointing third-place finish - because (according to one report) baseball wants to be sure that fans tie into new characters or promotions from a marketing and licensing standpoint ... well, that's just weird.
