    Sucker's bet

Wednesday, February 7, 2007, 05:18 PM EST [Chicago Bears]

Some Chicago fans lost their shirts betting on their beloved Bears.

    Scott Wiese lost his identity.

In what we're guessing was one of the least sober moments of his life, the diehard Bears fan signed a pledge to legally change his name to Peyton Manning should the Colts win Super Bowl XLI.

And astonishingly, Wiese is following through on the pledge, even though we have our doubts as to whether a pledge signed in a bar would hold up in a court of law as a binding document.

"I made the bet, and now I've got to keep it," the 26-year-old Wiese said.

"I think I kind of represent all Bears fans. Not that I'm saying they're all idiots like me, but I represent their passion because I really care about my team, you know?"
