In an unusual form of social protest, fans of a Brazilian soccer club stormed the team's practice and gave the players bottles of rum.
Apparently, the bottles of sugarcane rum -- a traditional Brazilian liquor -- were intended to symbolize the lackadaisical attitude that contributed to Fluminense winning just seven of 15 matches this season and finishing eighth in the Rio de Janeiro state championship, the worst showing in franchise history.
Man, I wish people would protest the Weird World of Sports' lackadaisical attitude by giving me free booze. Mostly they just leave hurtful comments deriding my sense of humor and send emails to my boss demanding that I be fired.
