NBA Workshop: Make Your Dream Team

I want to have a competition in which everyone who wants to compete enters their dream team.  Then I will write a blog with all the teams in it and people will vote for the team they think is the best and would beat every other team in a best of 7 series.  But you can't just have every superstar in the NBA, there are guidelines.

Lakers @ Celtics: Grades & Notes

Friday, February 6, 2009, 05:19 PM EST [General]

    Lakers @ Celtics

    Grades & Notes

    Lakers: 110

    Celtics: 109

    Final/OT

    Notes

    • The Celtics are really good at setting screens to get their shooters open.
    • The Lakers play good defense when they want to.
    • Lamar Odom was actually trying to step up and make a major impact.
    • Kobe is the most clutch player in the league.
    • Paul Pierce can't contain Kobe.
    • Rajon Rondo tries to start fights that he can't win.
    • The Lakers didn't back down to the Celtics.
    • DJ Augustin was right when the said that if you don't back down to the Celtics, they just fold.
    • Lamar Odom didn't back down to Garnett.

    Grades

    Lakers

    Chris Mihm - C

He only played a little bit, but while he was in he made a layup and gave up easy layups.

    Josh Powell - B+

He didn't play a lot, but for the time he was in he took and made smart shots and played defense.

    Jordan Farmar - B+

He played good defense and made big shots while he was in.

    Sasha Vujacic - B+

He did pretty much what Farmar did.

    Trevor Ariza - B

He didn't make as big of an impact in this game as he has in other games, but he played great defense on Paul Pierce while he was in.

    Luke Walton - C+

He played decent defense on Paul Pierce and made so shots, but he also missed some easy shots, turned the ball over, and failed to get a critical rebound that was his for the taking.

    Derek Fisher - A

Fisher played the best defense he has played in a while and made big shots.  You can't blame him for giving Ray Allen wide open shots because he was screened every time.

    Lamar Odom - A+

Odom stepped up in a big game finally!  Every Laker fan has wanted that for so long and now it finally happened.  He hit critical shots in the 4th quarter and overtime as well as getting the biggest rebound of the game and making the game winning free throws.

    Pau Gasol - A+

Pau also stepped up.  He proved that he can be tough and dominate in the post.  He made a huge hook shot over Perkins and grabbed a lot of rebounds.

    Kobe Bryant - A

He played a good game.  He only shot 10-29 from the floor, but the shots he made were huge.  Including three 3-pointers in a row over Paul Pierce.  He did take some stupid shots though and that is why he gets an A instead of an A+.

    Phil Jackson - B-

Jackson didn't really do anything stupid this game.  He made a questionable decision in keeping in Luke Walton and putting him on Paul Pierce instead of bringing in Ariza, but it worked out so I can't complain.

    Celtics

    Tony Allen - C

Tony didn't do anything in the game, but since he didn't do anything he didn't really hurt his team or help them.

    Leon Powe - C

Same with Tony, he didn't do anything in the game.

    Eddie House - A+

House was on fire from 3 and just kept using the screens from his teammates to drain three after three.

    Glen Davis - F

Crybaby Davis didn't do anything in the game except for miss almost every shot he took and play no defense.  They gave him the ball in crunch time for some reason, and he just kept missing.

    Kendrick Perkins - B-

Perkins didn't do anything on the offensive end, but that's not what his role is.  He played decent defense and that is what they want from him.

    Rajon Rondo - A

Rondo kept driving in for easy layups this game, because there was no Bynum there like on Christmas day.  He also made some nice passes.

    Ray Allen - B-

He missed a lot of shots that he normally makes, but he still did pretty well.

    Kevin Garnett - B-

He fouled out in the 4th quarter after doing decent for most of the game.  He made most of his shots and played his signature good defense.

    Paul Pierce - C+

His missed free throw in the 4th quarter was huge for the Lakers.  He also missed a potential game-winner and let Kobe drain a lot of critical three-pointers in his face.

    Doc Rivers - C-

For some reason he decided to let Big Baby take big shot after big shot.  I also don't understand why he had Big Baby in instead of Leon Powe.  He didn't make smart decisions at the end which caused them to lose the game.  He also lost $15,000 for yelling at the refs after the game.
