They may have the number 8 ranked offense in the country but after tonight's sterling display against a pedestrian Middle Tennessee State, if you consider their defense to worthy of that ranking, I got some bridges for sale I'd like to discuss with you.
Louisville fans should probably be thanking all of the deities that have ever existed that Brian Brohm stayed in school for his senior year. Not that Cantwell is terrible, but he's certainly not Brian Brohm. After the MTSU shoot-out, he already has 9 touchdown passes in 2007.
In case you aren't aware of what I'm talking about, last night, Middle Tennessee State scored 42 points against the number 8 team in the country -- the same Middle Tennessee State team that was ranked 104 out of 119 teams in total offense in 2006.
In an absolutely brilliant display of Division 1 defense, the 8th ranked Louisville Cardinals saw their defensive line do absolutely nothing while their secondary looked like it was playing with blindfolds on. Again I say, MTSU is NOT an offensive juggernaut, yet they repeatedly gashed and burned the Cards for big play after big play.
And again, the ONLY saving grace for this 8th-ranked locomotive was their quarterback, who should probably be playing in Atlanta, with his true coach, Bobby Petrino.
If that's the best they can do, Coach Krag is going to have a lot to work on for the next 9 days, because up next for the Cardinal Red People Eaters are the UK Wildcats, and they have a MUUUUUUUUUCH better offense than MTSU.
If the UofL defensive line gives Andre Woodson that much time to throw against THAT secondary...
Bad things, man. Bad things.
Of course, the Cats have to get past the Golden Flashes of Kent State before they get their shot at the apparent swiss cheese defense of the Louisville Cardinals.
Until later, GBB!
