Well, the NBA season is back so I guess I am too. There are probably people here who don't approve of that, but like I wrote in my "About Me" section, while I pretty much like all sports, I just follow basketball so as to make time for the more important things in life.
After a summer of international basketball, it will be good to watch games at sane times again. Tonight's games on TNT are intriguing. Miami is (of course) the champ, and Chicago is the upstart, but I think Chicago may win. Flash will be brilliant, but I don't see Walker, Payton, Shaq & co. up to speed yet. Pat Riley says practices have been too slack too.
The Suns should not have a hard time spanking the Lakers The success the Lakers had with Phoenix last year came from the Lakers bigs leading the assault. The Suns may have lost Tim Thomas, but with Kurt Thomas back, and even a recovering Amare Stoudemire, makes Phoenix better up front now than it was in last year's playoffs. By contrast, the Lakers are seriously depleted up front. Chris Mihm, Kwame Brown are out, and the starting center is last year's garbage time, 18 year old rookie, Andrew Bynum. Sure Bynum had a great preseason, but guarding Stoudemire, Bynum is likely to collect fouls faster than Wesley Snipes can run from the IRS.
Speaking of the Suns, have you guys read this article on Steve Nash yet? What a jerk! I finally know why Nash has two MVP
awards: one for each face!
