Time to..."Keep it real"..and...pass the torch..

Saturday, December 22, 2007, 09:24 AM EST [General]

This from the (AP) and Fox Sports yesterday:

"....Two things MATTER most in  professional sports: WINNING and PROFITS. SELIG has delivered both."

    Boy...Now there's a statement that pretty-much sums it up.

You'll notice that there's no mention of the words "PROTECTING and PRESERVING the INTEGRITY of the GAME" in that emphatic statement...just "Winning" and "Profits"...OH yeah...and "..SELIG has delivered BOTH."

If that's not an indictment of Selig's character...nothing is....Fehr is right up there with him, as well...The only difference between 'em is: Most of us HOPED Selig had it (character)...We pretty much NEW Fehr didn't.

If there ever was a time for us old farts to "let it go"...it's now...Unfortunately...It is what it is...and, to quote an old poet...

    "..The times...they are-a-changin'..."

    MLB...To the Dawgs...

Thursday, December 20, 2007, 09:27 AM EST [General]

...I think it's fair to say that a lot of us envy the lifestyle of MLB players...They get paid millions of dollars for playing a kid's game and, in effect, get to extend their childhood for a whole lot more years than the rest of us...Not only that, but they also have the money to purchase "toys" anytime they want, they don't have the stress of money problems as most of us do, they are revered, famous, admired and even thought of as heroes...All-in-all, relatively speaking,..They "got it made.."

Somewhere along the way, it becomes almost impossible for them not to believe and internalize that this "gift" is anything less than a "birthright" and that it's going to last forever...In a word, they are "spoiled."

Like any spoiled kid, they are going to do pretty much whatever they can to get their way...rules and life's regulations don't really apply to them...those are for "the rest of us..."...and we, the fan, rarely give them any reason to think otherwise..

I don't wish them any ill-will any more than I would anyone...They were dealt some pretty good cards and just like you and me..they are playin' 'em...game on.

You get caught cheatin' in poker...friend...It ain't gonna work out to well forya....

...and you can go to another table...but you ain't sittin' at mine cuz when you dance...sooner or later...you got to pay the fiddler..

I'll even give you a tune...

Bond's and Clemen's are both as sholes...That may have more to do with being "villified" than anything else...

I got no problem with someone bein' an "as shole"...Lots of 'em out there...BUT...If you're an as shole and you get caught "runnin' a bulls hit game" on ME...dont expect for ME to run to your defense..

Some people NEED to be knocked off their perch.

Most people will defend and possibly forgive Pettite...cuz he's not an as shole...That doesn't necessarily make him "right"...It jus' makes him a lot less insufferable than an "as shole"..

Bond's and Clemen's don't have close to enough humility in their souls to make me come CLOSE to defending or forgiving them....

    It's Kharma...dudes...and it's about time...
