Congrats to the Unit fer gittin' #300 yesterday...Lotta thangs hafta happen to hit that HOF mark...

Lotsa pundits don't think we'll see another pitcher hit that mark..I'm not so sure 'bout that...but their have been marks surpassed before that I never thought would be passed...Most notably, to me, was Lou Gehrigs' 2130 consecutive game playing streak and Cal Ripken proved me wrong on that assessment. I'da lost the farm if I'd bet on that.

Having said that...here's a few that I DON'T thank will be approached and I'll start with Ripkens' 2,632...I doubt that Nolan Ryan's 5,714 K's will be surpassed..Johnson ain't gonna ketch 'im...Nor will anyone pass Pete Rose's 4,256 hit record..And it goes without sayin' that Cy Young (511 career wins) is outta the question.

Nobody will ever have a career lifetime batting average of .367 that Ty Cobb managed to put together and a 56-game hitting streak (DiMaggio) hasn't been remotely approached since he set it over 60 years ago...and you can write-off a .400 batting average in a single season which Teddy ballgame did 'bout the same time Joe D went on his tear...

A cat named Johnny VanderMeer pitched a cupla no-hitters back-to-back in that same era, as well and that's a tuff act to follow...and 7-No-hitters by Ryan appears outta reach..Btw...Da Stevo was at the Dome fer #5 against LA...met Lasorda that day too...Free Tickets..
Oh...and Aaron's 755 and Maris' 61* appear to be safe as well...Who knows...someday somebody may pass those too...but it ain't happened yet....donnit?
