Scott Thornton Signs with Kings
Saturday, July 1, 2006, 01:03 PM [General]
It's been reported that former San Jose Sharks checking forward Scott Thornton has signed a two-year contract worth $1.5 million per season with the Los Angeles Kings.
There was concern about players like Thornton earning multi-million dollar contracts under the new CBA, but going by the early rash of restricted and unrestricted free agent signings of players of similar caliber to Thornton, it hasn't been that much of a drag on these kind of signings.
There's also speculation the Kings might be close to signing defenceman Rob Blake, whom the club dealt to the Colorado Avalanche several years ago. Stay tuned.
