Report User I have never posted something someone else wrote..but I wanted your opinions on this one. I wrote a scathing letter to Marty for posting this online under Scene and Heard on Nascar.com. First of all, he's at a racetrack on raceday for God's sake...he can't come up with something better than this to write? This is supposed to be something the fans can go to and see what it's like at a certain track and what the gossip is..among drivers, teams, owners, etc. Second, he's blatantly making fun of a Nascar fan..to a degree that is not only offensive but hurtful. As I read this..all I could think of was that poor woman and how she would feel if she read this..and if she doesn't ..I bet her friends will make sure she knows about it. Third, if this is how Marty Smith feels about Nascar fans..he has NO business working for them..the fans MAKE Nascar...always have..always will. The fans come from all walks of life and if a Nascar employee is going to make fun of one..he will make fun of others I assure you. Fourth, this is hearsay and slander and a freshman journalism student would know better and yet Marty gets paid for doing it..I hope she slaps a lawsuit on Nascar! Fifth, I am writing this so that anyone who hasn't read this..will read it and REACT! If you're totally against smoking...good for you! BUT...put away your prejudices about that one factor and look at how this fan is being treated! Write Nascar and explain to them that this kind of so-called annecdote is not appreciated because the next time, it could be you! And I don't think ANYONE would appreciate this kind of treatment!

A buddy of mine who participated in last week's Kyle Petty Charity Ride shared the humorous first-hand account of a 20-something mother of four who requested Petty take a photo with her young'ns:
Apparently, this young lady's grovel sounded as if she'd been sucking on Winstons since age 13, and the latest oral soldier had burned down to the filter when she hoisted the camera to her eye to snap the photo. Suddenly, smoke began to waft from her dolled-up 'do. She'd ignited the White Rain. Ignition.
Asked if he should inform his momma that her bouffant was smoldering, a mischievous 7-year old declined. Classic.
