Now that we can get the MLB Extra Innings package on cable I talked my wife into letting me order it. It is fantastic knowing that I will not miss another Yankee game for the rest of the season. Previously having to go to a bar to watch all the games was causing my liver to hate me. Something very odd though is that I get the commercials from the other markets in between innings and pitching changes. Those commercials almost seem like they are from a foreign country. I saw commercials for Jimmy Johns, Menards, White Castle, some scam artist attorney in Ohio, and Skyline chilli. (Those were all the commercials that aren't shown in Texas) I have to say that the Jimmy Johns commercial was the weirdest by far. This little red poker chip looking thing was falling out of the sky screaming for what seemed like 5 minutes and then lands in a sandwich and that was it. I just looked at my wife like, 'What the hell was that about?!"
Anyway, baseball season is here and I am very excited about that. The Yankees starting rotation looked like a bust after the first two series but Pavano and Pettitte seem to have found their stroke against the Twins. A-Rod is going off and one thing I've noticed is that he's not overthinking everything, he's just going out and playing the game. The Giambino is the one who is gripping right now. He had a nice single in yesterdays game but I don't think he's going to have half as good an April as he had last season.
CarolynT must be excited about the schlepps...I mean Mets. They are killing and I think this could turn out to be another Subway Series in the end. Come on Roger I need you back buddy.
Then we have the Astros. I hate to say it...actually I usually love saying this but not this time...I told you so. Brad Lidge is wasted goods and the rotten thing of it is that you didn't trade him when his stock was still high. We probably couldn't even get Gil Meche for him. Anyone notice how Gil Meche is a punchline lately? No wonder the Royals can't get anything going. Carlos Lee and Lance Berkman have yet to find their stroke but I feel them coming around soon enough. As long as they can produce some runs early I think there pitching staff, minus Lidge, can help them stay in this thing. Shooter it was nice getting swept at home by the Pirates at the beginning of the season. Thanks for that.
