    Golf vs. Work

Thursday, May 4, 2006, 12:02 PM EST [Golf]

I swear that there is a drug that is put into either the grass on a golf course, the paint on the tees, or melted onto the grips of my clubs because I can't go a day without thinking about playing. I'm not even good at it either. This year I just started playing again since high school (which was almost 10 years ago) and I've played three times as much golf in this one year than my whole life combined. The best part, in my mind, is that there is always room for improvement. I recently broke a 100 on a fairly easy course two weeks ago so now I have a new goal to break 90. I want to play so much that I try to think of how I can get out of work early enough to go play. Is there a Golfer's Anonymous out there where guys like me can go and work out there issues. Freaking hilarious. I'd be in a room with a group of balding, overweight, 45-55 year old men in polyester blend shirts and pants so tight there marbles on either side of the seam. Screw It! I'm taking off early, going to the course with a pack of cancer sticks, and playing 18 before the sun hits the deck.

One more thing, anybody got any advice on getting the wife to layoff on how much golf I play. Do you lie to them kinda like an affair? "Yeah honey I got a lot of paperwork to catchup on at the office so I have to go in at 6 in the morning on Saturday AND Sunday..." Come home with an unexplainable tan, stink because the showers were  full and you forgot your towel...

If you need an explanation on the name just say it real fast outloud in front of a large group of your coworkers. They'll get it.
