What is hard for me to fathom is why everyone thinks that Alex Rodriguez is this fragile piece of glass and you have to watch what you say or he will break?
Understandibly the guy is playing in one of the most critical markets in all of the major leagues, but he is a grown man the last time I checked. Listening to the media talk about Steinbrenner's comments on the "third baseman's" performance you would have thought he was berating his mother. George Steinbrenner only knows one thing and that is success. Failure is not an option in his mind. If you work in corporate America or you are operating a small business you know full well where this mind set comes from. You expect the best out of your employees everyday. If they start to slack the business starts to slack, so you might need to give them a wakeup call every now and then. Being critical of someone not performing is not a sin, not being critical when they screw up is.
Alex Rodriguez pretty much proved the critics wrong yesterday with his solo blast in the fifth against Schilling and the RedSox. I think some people over analyze baseball and that is when you get stories like this. Guys don't homer every at bat...hell they don't hit every at bat. Why do you think DiMaggio's record has stood for so long? Everyone has good days and bad days we just have to hope the good out weighs the bad.
Randy Johnson probably could use some constructive criticism. I had this feeling that he was going to turn out like this though. I'm glad to see that Mussina is holding up well. All and all it's going to be a great year for the Bombers.
In the mean time Keep your Beer mugs full and the table dances a plenty. CHEERS!!!
