    FSR Most Valuable NFL Players

Tuesday, July 1, 2008, 09:06 PM EST [General]

What NFL players are most valuable to their team?

I'm not going to get very descriptive because I want to leave that to everyone. I also want to invite everyone to discuss sports on The Morning V.I.P forum. Just go to www.morningvip.com and click the forum page. But back to the question, here is my list. I just did a Top 10. Feel free to do as many as you want.

    1.) Tom Brady (NE Patriots)
    2.) Peyton Manning (IND Colts)
    3.) L.T. (SD Chargers)
    4.) Champ Bailey (Denver Broncos)
    5.) Antonio Gates (SD Chargers)
    6.) Brian Urlacher (Chicago Bears)
    7.) Larry Johnson (KC Chiefs)
    8.) Brian Westbrook (Phili Eagles)
    9.) Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings)
    10.) Tony Romo (Dallas Cowboys)

I do have reasons behind all of those but I'm not going to post them because I want feedback. Let me know who you think is most valuable to their team, and you can or don't have to post reasons to why. I'm trying to get some material for stories on FSR. You will be credited. Enjoy!

The Morning V.I.P - New Radio Show On Fox Sports!

Saturday, June 28, 2008, 09:01 PM EST [General]

    Hey all,
Sorry it's been so long since I've posted. A lot has come up and I strayed away from the blogging world. But hey, great news on my end, and hopefully for you all. The college radio show I was working on for a while was picked up on Fox Sports Kentucky! We do the Saturday morning sports show and we have taken off big. We have already scored interviews with Mario Andretti and a few others. We are different than other sports shows. We are a comedy sports show. We like to be very edgy and have fun. Our fans have begun calling us Sports Shock Radio. We like to have a lot of comedians on. We've had Rich Vos and The Amazing Jonathan. Charlie Murphy is coming on next week. Wendi McLendon-Covey (from Reno 911) the week after. And list continues. We even had Jack Hanna on. You can listen live online through our website. We also have posted a lot of our celebrity interviews on our site. So go check it out.

I won't be a stranger. Just had to let everything cool down for a while and clear up so free time. As always, go Bucks! Now I am off to bask in the glory of Andy Pettite and pray for another win streak for the Bronx Bombers. Enjoy. Comment. Live. Laugh.

Why The TOPPERS Will Top UCLA

Thursday, March 27, 2008, 02:17 PM EST [NCAA BB]

First off, it disgusts me how when you are searching for a category for Western Kentucky, they don't have one. Instead, we are known as the Bowling Green Hilltoppers. We are Division 1A football now. Our basketball team is in the Sweet 16. What else do we need to do to gain a little respect?

Being a student at Western Kentucky University, let me quickly inform you what is going on around the campus. TV's are everywhere and they all have either Fox Sports or ESPN on,  banners are flying, and school spirit is at the highest it's been since Jim McDaniels took the Toppers to the Final Four in 1971. There is no campus that you should want to be at more than Western Kentucky right now. The atmosphere is incredible.

Every year the NCAA Tournament experiences what is to be considered a 'Cinderella' team. The most recently noted being George Mason University making it to the Elite 8. Coming off our win against San Diego, I knew that we would hear all week how easy of a pass UCLA has to the Elite 8 by playing us, a minky Sun Belt Conference team. Right there, I call Shenanigans. Here is why the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers COULD win:

1.) UCLA is a very good team, no doubt, but they also love to pace their game. The Hilltoppers love the fast break and try to take advantage of it by using their great speed. They also love the full and half court press. This could force UCLA to play a fast pace game they are not use to.

2.) Guard play. In my opinion, they cannot match up against our guards. Tyrone Brazelton, Courtney Lee, and now Ty Rogers.

3.) Momentum. This is the first time since Coach Horn was a player that we have made it to the Sweet 16. You cannot say we do not have momentum coming into this game.

4.) Pressure. Let's face it, the Toppers have nothing to lose going into this game. We are not expected to win. Over 80% of America didn't think they could possibly get this far. UCLA on the other hand almost came up short against Texas A&M, and they have the pressure of being the number one seed and being upset.

    5.) Woody Paige says so.

6.) Courtney Lee. Unlike most of the UCLA players, Courtney Lee has something to prove. He is already a projected first round prospect in the NBA draft and has the small chip on his shoulder of proving he is worthy of that. Expect him to figure out a way to break-down UCLA's tough defense. He is also only 24 points away from Jim McDaniel's scoring record at WKU. Nobody wants to come up just short of a record like that. Tyrone Brazelton is also getting notice by NBA scouts. If he plays like he has been, he will get more notice. But in order to keep getting noticed, they have to move on.

7.) Everybody complains how we do not play the tough teams. Look back at the start of the season. We beat Nebraska (not a big win). We lost to Gonzaga by 3 in a game we should have easily won. We lost to Tennessee by 6 in a game where Lee and Brazelton were in foul trouble and didn't really play in the second half. Yes, we lost to South Alabama twice and Northern Arizona and Southern Illinois. Here is our problem: we play down to our competition. A lot like Vanderbilt does. But the good thing is (as proven throughout the season) we also play up to our competition. Our biggest loss this season was by 10 to Southern Illinois at what is arguably the hardest mid-major place to play. UCLA lost by 10 at Washington (a team that didn't even make the NIT). If we can continue to play up to our competition, we should be able to keep it close.

8.) Emotion. The Toppers could win this game on emotion alone. UCLA is a very young team and if Kevin Love decides to stay, they will most likely be the heavy favorites for next year. This is it for the Toppers. Courtney Lee, Tyrone Brazelton, Ty Rogers, Boris Siakam, and Adam Howard are all leaving. This is all of their's first Tournament appearance. They know they have the talent to win any game and play with any team. UCLA has nothing to lose. WKU will lose everything.

9.) The backcourt. UCLA loves to use their big men...a lot. In fact, all three of their starting big men play an average of over 30 minutes per game. With WKU's fast pace style, they will get tired. Only two of WKU's players average of 25 minutes per game (Lee, Brazelton). Coming off the bench, we have the speed of AJ Slaughter and Orlando Mendez-Valdez. We also have the defense in last year's Mr. Kentucky Basketball, Pettigrew, and Siakam. UCLA loves to stick to 8 or 9 men throughout the game. WKU uses 11 or 12. If WKU can make their speed effective and ware down the big men, UCLA will be forced to go to an inexperienced bench.

I'm not going to jump out and say WKU is going to walk away with this one. They won't. It will be a close game no matter who wins. UCLA is a very tough team and I realize that. With that said, I'm not going to make a final prediction. For one, I don't want to jynx anything. I will be pulling for the Toppers to come out with a victory.

    Why The Buckeye Hate?

Sunday, December 30, 2007, 12:10 AM EST [General]

Everyone who has read my blogs knows I am all about straight facts. You can't argue with a fact. So my question to the college football nation is:

Why Doesn't Ohio State Deserve To Be In The National Championship?

I live in Tennessee and Kentucky (SEC Country) and there is nothing but hate towards them, which is understandable. But don't tell me that LSU deserves to be in the championship and Ohio State doesn't. This is off the top of my head, so I apologize if some facts are off. But I'm tossing out all facts, both for and against the Buckeyes.

1.) Ohio State finished the season with a strength of schedule ranking #48 out of 119 teams. LSU finished the season with a strength of schedule ranking #24 out of 119.

2.) Ohio State lost one game all season. LSU lost two games, and still won the SEC Championship. Ohio State lost to Illinois, who finished the season ranked #13 and received a bid to the Rose Bowl. LSU lost to Kentucky on the road and Arkansas at home. Both Kentucky and Arkansas finished the season unranked, but both received bowl bids.

3.) Ohio State finished #1 in both AP and BCS Polls. LSU finished #2 in both.

4.) Besides Kansas, Ohio State is the only one loss team in a "BCS Conference".

In my opinion, the BCS did a great job of picking the championship matchup. The BCS doesn't look at what happened the year before. It starts over. Yes, we all know Florida demolished the Buckeyes last year, but what happened last season shouldn't reflect on what happened this season. If you use that argument, then how come nobody is complaining about Kansas? Kansas went 6-6 and last season. Virginia Tech lost in it's non-BCS game last year, and nobody is complaining about them being in the BCS. I have nothing against those two teams, I think they are both worthing of being there. I'm just using them as examples.

So if you disagree with Ohio State being in the championship game, tell me why and who should be in there in their place.

    2007 BCS Playoffs

Sunday, December 9, 2007, 11:55 PM EST [BCSFootball]

I have gone through and created a "what-would-be" playoff system for this year. I have done my research, and several others have come up with the same standard I have. I did it using the final BCS Polls, and I have included the BCS Bowl Games, so the whole losing money thing shouldn't be much of an issue. Here it is:
