1) Yankee Fans will not want to read a book by a guy who is now a fallen idol.
Torre and Verducci erred greatly by slamming A-Rod and Cashman. Granted, A-Rod is a tremendously controversial figure and largely disliked by Yankee fans - but he's still a Yankee. And as long as he's integral to the team's success, Yankee fans do not want to hear vindictive comments from a bitter ex-manager. The same goes for Cashman, although to a lesser degree.
2) Yankee haters will not want to read 400+ pages of New York Yankees glory years.
There is simply NOT ENOUGH slander and gossip in this encyclopedia of Yankeeism for Yankee haters to want to sift through.
3) The book is bound (pun intended) to be boring.
Torre's teams have always been boring. Very predictable, Torre always has managed by the book. And this book will be equally boring.
4) There are no compelling characters in this book.
There's no Reggie Jackson, Billy Martin, Mickey Mantle, etc.. People get enough of A-Rod from the gossip pages. Derek Jeter is just a nice guy, and who really cares about the Jorge Posadas and Mariano Riveras of the world?
5) The book's simply to long.
I can see 400+ pages for maybe 75 years of Yankee history, but 12?
6) It's a year late, or 10 years to early.
People would have been much more interested when Torre first left the team. Strike while the iron's hot. Otherwise, he should have waited till every part of his legacy was history before dropping bomb shells.
7) There's no hot chicks, or Mob figures in this book.
Maybe if there were some intricate sex scandals, or behind the scenes mafia drama the book might have had a chance.
Of course, I could be dead wrong and we may end up seeing the sequel in a few years:
"Joe Torre - My Years with the L.A. Dodgers" or "Why I Hate Manny Rameriez"

Donmex;
RockyRaccoonthanks for the comments. I too am a life long Yankee fan. I liked Torre as a man. But I don't think he was at all mistreated by management. He was paid an incredible salary for managing the best team in baseball. And he was offered a one year 5 million dollar salary and was insulted?
I do agree with you that he has done an excellent job with the Dodgers. He is a great people manager. But he is woeful in game management and strategy.
Rocky.
