In a stunning development long overdue, African-American, Jewish NASCAR driver, Calvin Goldstein, has publicly announced that he is, in fact, a homosexual. No word as to whether his sponsors, Manichevitz wines and Jet magazine, have pulled their endorsements.
"I've just held it in for too long," said Goldstein from his South Beach home. "It's about time my fans know the truth about me. I'm black... and Jewish... and gay... and proud. Now let's race!"
In the wake of recent announcements from other professional athletes coming out of the proverbial closet, Goldstein's news is bound to send shockwaves through the NASCAR circuit, long a bastion of Southern conservatism.
"I ain't gonna ride with no homo!" cited fictitious NASCAR driver, Jimmy Cardalay. "It's bad enough he's Jewish."
NASCAR had no official response to Goldstein's, nor Cardalay's announcements, although it is rumored that NBA Commissioner David Stern called NASCAR personnel to encourage them to ban Cardalay from future racing.
