"What If Sports"

I just stumbled onto a website that I found to be really stimulating for any sports fan, www.whatifsports.com. It is a simulation sports game, where you can pit your favorite team(s) against others and allows you to change various facets of the team to see how it might affect the game. Whether your a football, baseball, hockey or basketball fan (they even have NCAA basketball), you can select a favorite team and pit them against another, change the weather, the temperature, the location, etc. and then play the game to see the outcome.
For those into reality simulation games, there is also a feature, probably the main feature, where you pay $12.95 and develop your own team, then play in a league for an entire "season". The season lengths vary, depending on which sport you choose. I chose baseball and started my first team a week or so, ago. The season is supposed to last until the first week of August, with three games played per day. You can pick from different types of leagues, from theme leagues, to public or private beginner leagues, then choose any ballplayers you want, keeping under a salary cap. Once the league is filled, the games start, playing three games per day, with the option of playing the games "live", if players should so choose. The live feature is pretty cool, too, because you can play "live" against the computer, as well as being able to choose whether to have a DH or not, and the length of time given to make changes during the game (pitching, substitutes, etc.).
I tried an experimental footbal league and it is equally accommodating, allowing you to field a team, with a salary cap and the games are played as halves; the first half in the morning and the second in the afternoon. Pre-Season type games are free, so that people can experience what it's like before shelling out any money, regardless of the sport. There is even a NASCAR simulation, although those leagues fill up VERY quickly. I am not trying to advocate or advertise, nor am I affiliatied with "What If Sports" in any way, but I do think its a pretty cool website for those who just can't enough of sports, or have always wondered, "what if..." Check it out!
