    Check, Your Move -- 12/28/05

Wednesday, December 28, 2005, 09:31 PM EST [Check, Your Move]

Welcome to another edition of CYM. So here we go. Gonna keep it short this week.

    Tampa Bay to Cleveland Indians
DRays send 1B/OF/DH Aubrey Huff to Cleveland for C Ryan Garko
Huff has been mentioned in every trade rumor that has involved the DRays. So it's better off they trade him now. He doesn't have a job at 1B or RF for the DRays. Instead of putting him at DH, move him along to CLE for a young catcher. Garko has a lot of promise and would be a good fit in Tampa.

Here's a short three teamer for ya! Giants to Astros to Mariners
Well, assuming that Bagwell won't see much playing time in Houston, this trade works. Steve Finley will go to Houston to play CF, and Willy Tavarez moves to LF. Luke Scott and a minor leaguer go from Houston to Seattle. Seattle then trades Joel Pinero to SanFran.
-Pinero needs to move somewhere else, and Giants could use a quality #4 guy in their rotation
-Steve Finley could end his career with the defending National League Champs. He won't see much playing tiem in SanFran and could be an everyday player for Houston (again, assuming Bagwell doesn't play much)
-Luke Scott never proved himself with the Astros. He was hot in Spring Training, but was basically crap after that. Moving to Seattle, he could end up with a starting job when the season starts, and then when Lawton gets off suspension, he could wait till 2007 till he's an everyday man

That's all for this week. See ya next week!
