    Hawaii vs. Georgia ...

Sunday, December 2, 2007, 11:21 PM EST [BCS]

Georgia could be in a world of hurt. There has never been anything like the Warriors of Hawaii. And, what happens if Hawaii wins? Will they have a ligitimate claim to the national title?

What we have and have always had is a mythical national title.  A lot of schools got hosed this year ... namely, Mizzou, Georgia, Kansas, Hawaii?  It's been happening for many years ... before the BCS.

Still, it's Hawaii who gets to scream foul if they should take out Georgia.  Georgia is not in the national title game because its 2 losses were conference losses ... big deal.  The Bulldogs beat some real good teams and didn't lose to any patsy (USC).   They had strong schedule, unlike Kansas.  Hawaii did what Kansas could not do: win the game that counts despite your weak schedule.  The win against Washington was just awesome!

The Sugar Bowl is where it's at!  We got 2 teams with something to prove.  We got 2 teams who can talk the talk long after the season with a win.

Miami Dolphins Seal Their Fate ... Best & Worst

Sunday, December 2, 2007, 10:22 PM EST [General]

I think it is only fittling that the Dolphins become the only NFL franchise in history with 16 straight losses capping a winless season.  Who better to wear the crown than the team that set the standard in having  the best NFL season ever going 16-0.

It is perfect karma.  It is quite symetric.

Now, if only the Patriots will cooperate and lose a game!  I think I will write some encouraging words for the Steelors.

Anyway, the Dolphins had their best chance to win today and got waxed by the mighty Jets!  Looking at the rest of their schedule makes the honest Dolphins fan cry.  It's not happening.

Don't be ashamed Dolphins fans.  Be proud of your 2 records.  Don't go in denial.  Embrace your great place in sports history!   It's coming.  The next record ... it's on the way.

    Thoughts on Weis

Saturday, November 10, 2007, 05:20 PM EST [Notre Dame Fighting Irish]

    A response to Weis

I would add one more reason why Weis is destined to fail; he does not look the part, he does not represent the part, of what young men would look up to and want to rally around and follow boldly into battle.  Now, I know some will say that looks are shallow and perhaps insignificant pointing to other coaches.  Point to another coach and I will point to some aspect of that coach that represented leadership.  Weis has nothing visually.

Gastric Bypass is not something I want my coach to choose.  I want my coach and my players to choose hard work.

Don't hold your breath if you think they'll be back next year.  Notre Dame has a tough schedule next year and it wouldn' t matter anyway if they didn't.  They are stuck with Weis.

Who woulddn't be successful with Brady: perhaps the most accurate NFL passer ever!  The adminstration at Notre Dame has a lot to answer for hiring Charlie Weis.

Still, it does all have the appearance of just desserts and their demise is quite sweet to wit.

Adrian Peterson Rookie of the Century

Sunday, November 4, 2007, 02:19 PM EST [Adrian Peterson]

Adrian Peterson is not just the rookie of the year, he's the rookie of the century!  Watching him dominate the Lightning Bolts is like watching no other RB ever.  The best comparison is to Eric Dickerson, but Peterson breaks that mold with his movement.  He appears to be one of those few athletes where there are no comparsons.  He is writing his own legend with each and every game.

And those poor Chargers ... with their equally sad-sack Coach ... let the Vikings put the smack down on em like  ...  well, they punk'd 'em.  They man-handled 'em.  They handed them their lunch, saying sorry bud, we don't eat quiche.

It was a rough game with guys going out limping and on stretchers.  Big plays and big hits ...  Just the kind of stuff rabid fans adore ... hard-hittin' take no prisoners kind of game.

Still, if Pererson can stay healthy, at the end of the year we may be looking at the greatest NFL Rookie of all time!

Thoughts on Dungy, Belichick are polar opposites

Thursday, November 1, 2007, 04:48 PM EST [NFL Coaches]

A response to Dungy, Belichick are polar opposites Classic example of good vs. evil here. And, the Nixon reference to Belichick is spot on. Tom Brady now resembles Keanu Reeves in that movie where Al Pacino plays his father, the Devil. (Devil's Advocate) He just too clean and slick. Tom Brady might not get a cheap-shot for his protection ... but, Randy Moss might get his bell rung if the Patriots don't start playing like gentleman. I've had a coach in my life give us little tricks to use against our opponents. They were'nt nasty or meant to hurt, but they were dirty. That was old school though, maybe athletes now are a little soft. I also remember as a running back in college getting things done to me in the pile that made me scream at the refs. So, I gave it and I got it back. The Pats will get theres ... it's cosmic, baby. Do the Pats deserve to be favorites in the house that Peyton built? I call it push. If I were home, I would stop in the casino and drop some on the Colts. You may never have a chance to get points with the Colts at home in the Peyton era. One of the best matchups the NFL has ever had!!
