It's pretty funny looking back at drafts and thinking "What are they doing?!?!?". In this article, I will show you 5 Scouting Reports and at the bottom, I will reveal who they turned out to be.
1st Scouting Reports-"Great intangibles and a super kid, but he does not have great arm strength and is not John Elway, but he could be slightly more gifted than Tom Brady and will be a first-round pick"-From 2002
2nd Scouting Report-"Terrific college player with great intangibles who should make it in the NFL and contribute, but he is not a top prospect because of his limitations"-Again from 2002.
3rd Scouting Report-"A natural receiver with a lot of confidence, athleticism and pass-catching ability, but he can be a little selfish and self-centered at times"-2001
4th-Scouting Report-"Is not what you're looking for in terms of physical stature, strength, arm strength and mobility"-2000
5th Scouting Report-"A natural runner with size, pass-catching skills and a burst of speed. Has gotten tougher and better every year. Has a good chance to start in the NFL and could start as a rookie if he improves his running between the tackles"
1st Scouting Report-Joey Harrington
2nd Scouting Report-Rocky Calmus
3rd Scouting Report-Freddie Mitchell (no way, huh?)
4th-Scouting Report-Tom Brady (ever hear of him?)
5th-Scouting Report-Shaun Alexander
What's the point of this article? Well there may not be one but it goes to show that I don't think you can ever give a quality scouting report. It proves to me that there is so much more to a player than what the report reads. Every player is different and you can never truly compare anyone to any other player.
