Things are changing with the American soccer fan...4 years ago on the train to Daejon, I spent 3 hours teaching some supporters songs. Arriving at Gelshenkirken for today's match, you could hear them before you'd even stepped out of the station. On 3 and after me...
We're on the march with Bruce's Army
We're all going to Germany
And we'll really shake 'em, when we win the World Cup
Cos the US is the greatest football team
Repeat as many times as neccessary.
It feels like NYC, LA, DC, Vegas, Miami, Boston has descended and you're not going
to believe this but at the moment American fans outnumber the Czech's by at least 4 to 1. The beer and Jim Beam is flowing like water and the confidence is high that Arena's lads can pull off a Portugal and stun the football world once more. The attitude is infectious and I'm beginning to belive them myself even though its hard to look beyond the Czech machine.
I'm with Oliver Hinz today and we are going to tag team our way around the stadium and the crowds so check back in for regular updates.

This guy with the mask and boots is a classic. His wife said back in November that there was no way in hell he was going to Germany with any of the family money so he told me that he went to the blood bank twice a week for 6 months and saved up the money to get here...now that's a fan!
ps. Kids don't try this at home
