France has been found out. They will probably still go through to the second round but then they will face Spain and will probably go down like the one-legged man doing the Hokey-Cokey.
France's problem? The old men of the team are all style and no substance; the young men have neither. It is hard to believe that many of these players were involved with the France team that won the World Cup in 1998. Talk about living in the past. It is now the Twenty-first century, folks; time to play like a team with the present in mind, rather than the past.
And what is it about Thierry Henry? Why is he so good against bad teams for Arsenal but so bad against everybody for France? He is not the man for a big occasion. And when France plays Togo in what is effectively a World Cup decider, the occasion is significant.
France needs to win 2-0 to guarantee qualification. One goal should give them the confidence to score the second. The World Cup needs France in the second round but it is unlikely that they will go farther. What do you reckon?
