    Final Verdict

Wednesday, August 16, 2006, 02:49 PM EST [England]

Not surprisingly the 2nd half didn't match the opening period however a tremendous start for Steve McClaren. It looks like there is belief in the team and McClaren has them playing in the positions they play in for their clubs...what a novel concept.

Of course we shouldn't go overboard about this victory but a stuffing is a stuffing whatever way you look at it. If we can bring this momentum into the Euro qualifiers then there is plenty to look forward to. MOM, Owen Hargreaves who continues to impress. SAF should bring him to Old Trafford sharpish.

    We've gone...

..right off the boil. The 2nd half slump jinx continues despite the introduction of Richardson and Lennon. It was too be expected though after that 1st half display.

    Bright Start

Plenty of pace and committment from both sides as the rain lashes down. What a change from the glorious sunshine of Germany.

    England v Greece LIVE

Hmmm...Old Trafford is half empty or half full depending on which way you look at life. Perhaps 47 days is not enough time to recover from the German disaster for the English football watching public.

    England Starting XI v Greece

Wednesday, August 16, 2006, 12:32 PM EST [England]

England team (4-4-2) Robinson; G Neville, Ferdinand, Terry, A Cole; Gerrard, Lampard, Hargreaves, Downing; Crouch, Defoe.

    A very familiar back four.

In midfield Gerrard will start on the right with Hargreaves holding while Downing gets the nod down the left hand side for the injured Joe Cole. Now will Lampard show Chelsea form spearheading the diamond?

Up front the underated Crouch along with a Jermain Defoe who needs to get his career back on track.
