Once again, random crap time!
Earlier this year, I was playing my playoffs on NHL 06. I quickly won round one as a 4 seed. Then I looked at the other confrence, and nearly crapped myself. The 5, 6, 7, and 8 seeds all advanced. I thought, "That could never happen." Well, those low seeds in the real NHL are definetly trying. On Sunday, all of the lower seeded teams won their games, making the series one to one. Now I doubt many people see the Oilers beating the Wings, Lightning beating the Senators, etc. But isn't that just a strange coincidence.
More for hockey, why is it on OLN. Doesn't that stand for, "Outdoor Life Network." Hockey may have living people, but it has nothing to do with the outdoors. OLN typically has stuff like hunting, fishing, that stuff. But I think that station realizes, they needed something good. The NHL playoffs were a good snag. And kudos to NBC for getting some games too. With the NBA, you can find almost every playoff game, for hockey, unless its on NBC, you have to hope that...
1, You have OLN
2, You live in Canada and have it on some channel up there.
But I will give credit to the NHL, they have done a good job this year making the game exciting. But for hockey ever to return to being in the "Big 4", they need some more exposure, in the States at least.
Now on to basketball. Two days ago, I awarded the first ever, "Idiot of the Week" award to Udonis Haslem of the Heat for throwing a mouthguard at a ref. Well, I guess he got suspended for one game. I still wonder what the hell he was thinking. Refs make crappy calls, and if you don't like it, go over and talk to them. Hell, cussing the ref out probably would have only been one T. Mad or not, he should have keep cool much better. Because getting suspended hurts his team serverely. The Bulls came close in game one, and right now in game 2 they are close. (End of 1st Q as I write this). The Heat need every player, and Haslem got selfish. In the end, he may cost his team a game. And one game can make a big difference.
Another note, Tim Thomas says he fouled Kobe on a no call. As another blogger said earlier (Dr.Crab I think) NBA refs are incredibly inconsistant. They call fouls whenever they feel like it. They need to call everything the same in every situation. The poor judgement often hurts the NBA, and is one reason its popularity has gone down. (That and MJ leaving). They need to figure it out if they want to be more than the "4th most watched sport" behind the NFL, MLB and NASCAR.
Speaking of NASCAR, I see this article saying that they are making the "Car of Tommorow"? I think this is stupid. They should rename NASCAR, because it is a completely different sport then it was 3 years ago. Hell, the IRL is more exciting, because driver talent determines those races, and not money.
Keith Hernandez, announcer for the Mets, got reprimanded for saying that, "Women don't belong in the dugout." This guy is definetly up there with Haslem for Idiot of the Week. (In fact, next week he may win it) Why should it matter what gender a member of your training staff is? Plus, even if you feel that way, keep you mouth shut you idiot. What a schmuck. In fact, the Mets should fire him.
Now for the daily Barry Bonds story, Foxsports reports that Barry Bonds doesn't think he will break Arrons record. He said, "Heck no." I personally don't see him beating Ruth's record. Yes, I may be crazed, but listen to this. He has been hampered with multiple injuries, it took him this long to hit one, he's old, and the media and fans won't get off his back. I think he will hit one or two more, before going on the DL and retiring. I wish the media would leave him alone. (But I guess I'm guilty as well for posting this)
After me mentioning Ricky Manning a few days back, what does he do? He goes and assualts someone. Yeah, thats going to make the Panthers want to keep you. They didn't match, so the Bears get him. I still think he can help the Bears power D, but without much of an offense, the Bears won't go far. (I think Grossman is friends with Mark Prior and Kerry Wood, just maybe)
I personally can't wait for Saturday's draft. I've never even heard of most of the players, but it is still fun to watch. Also a note, I will be revealing my special draft blog. Stay tuned...
Finally, the weekly Brett Favre story, the Packers say that Brett isn't affecting their draft plans. All that says is, "We aren't drafting a QB." Either that means they have faith in Aaron Rodgers, or they think Brett is coming back. I think the Packers organization is a bunch of pansies. My god, force him to decide!
We will end with the WWE tidbit. Raw is on tonight, as it is Monday Night. And as always, I will watch about 3 minutes, then change the channel. Espcially tonight with the NBA and NHL on TV. Usually after I'm done watching 24 (TONIGHT ON FOX (cheap ad)) I watch old Family Guy reruns on Braves netwo..er, TBS. Raw really needs to stop sucking, it is terrible. I remember a year ago I didn't dare miss a minute of Raw. I even watched it often over MNF. But now, it just sucks.
In closing, I have to say, the NGS judges are great. They are a swell bunch of guys who really deserve their jobs. Keep up the good work! (Maybe cheap sucking up will help my cause...)
THATS ALL I GOT
