ESPN Full Circle: Brilliant? or Pointless?

Sunday, April 23, 2006, 09:51 PM EST [ESPN]

On Saturday, ESPN featued the Chicago Bulls vs the Miami Heat in its special "Full Circle" format.  Now what that meant, is that ESPN, EPSN 2, ESPN 360, ESPN Deportes, etc all featured the same game from different perspectives.  I watched this game from the regular ESPN format, and looked at the deuce for a few mintues.  That over the rim camera really didn't seem that great.   Which made me wonder, "Why the hell did they even do this?"  Doing something like this for a huge game, like a championship game or big rivalry, makes sense.  But this was game one of a 2 seed and a 7 seed.  Why waste all that time on one game???  They could have had many other programing options, like baseball.  Or they could have gotten rights to some NHL games (which have been great, I should watch more hockey).  The only other game to my knowledge that ESPN did this full circle for was Duke vs UNC a few months back.  But is it the last of it?  Are we going to see goal-post shots during Monday Night Football?  Are we going to see ump cams for baseball?  Are we going to see in car cams for Indy car races?  Hell, are we going to see behind the scenes of Sportscenter???

So I ask the question, ESPN Full Circle, Brilliant? or Pointless?
