    Shawn Chacon's Case

Wednesday, February 8, 2006, 03:27 PM EST [MLB]

Before I get to my post, here's the posting of my MLB Division Preview Posts: Friday - American League (East) Monday - National League (East) Tuesday - American League (Central) Wednesday - National League (Central) Thursday - American League (West) Firday - National League (West) Alright, let's move onto the post. Shawn Chacon's arbitration case is going to be coming up. Chacon is asking for $4.15 Million, the Yankees are offering $3.1 million. This likely will get ugly. Chacon is likely to point out his Yankees record, which was 7-3 with a ERA of 2.85. The Yankees will likely target his overall stats for the basis of their arguement (8-10 with a 3.44 ERA). More likely, Chacon will state that he was one of the reasons why the Yankees did make the playoffs. He'll point to his contriutions down the stretch and how he helped somewhat stabilize the Yankee Pitching Corps. In my opinion, the arbitrator will probably rule in favor of Chacon, due to the fact that Chacon, Wang, and Small were pretty much helped save the Yankees down the stretch. Enjoy the Division Previews coming up...
