With the passsing of Redskins Safety Sean Taylor, I think it is time to look back at what a fierce competitor he was.
Watching him play at the University of Miami was some of the best years in watching college football I have ever seen. That was the first time I have ever heard an analyst use the phrase covers like a corner and hits like a linebacker. He was one of the players I first identified with a player an wanted to see him succeed at the next level. He made me a Miami Hurricanes fan.
Taylor's biggest problem was the fact that he couldn't stay out of trouble. With the whole alleged spitting fiasco made me re-think my position on him being a great player or not. When he did that, I stopped rooting for the guy.
This past draft when the Redskins drafted LSU safety LaRon Landry, I thought "They are going to be the best safety tandem in the league for years. It is just a pity that we only got to see them play for 11 games together.
RIP Sean, You will be missed.
