Fantasy Football Drafts: Live Online vs. Off-Line

Wednesday, August 29, 2007, 06:46 AM EST [fantasy football]

With the NFL season rapidly approaching, people everywhere are preparing for their own personel Fantasy Football drafts.  With more and more people joining Fantasy leagues, these leagues are finally realizing an excellent option for the drafting process.  Another web stie besides this offers three types of draft.  You can choose the autopick which I find incredibly boring and hsould not be allowed.  They offer the live online draft which is sort of ok, but a new way of drafting they offered this year was the off-line draft.  What a great idea! Who knew that something not on a computer could be fun.

For those of you who don't know what I am talking about, I'll give you a true story.

About two weeks ago, a buddy of mine started our yearly fantasy league, normally complete with the Live online draft, but this year he switched it to Off-Line draft. I told him he was crazy for doing this and it would be difficult getting everyone in the league together for the draft.  He told me not to worry.  So about a week after the league was created, he called me up after a day at work and said, "We are all going to TJ's tonight for the draft,".  I told him it was going to be just me and him there but he said nine of the ten guys were coming.  I showed up early with two of my friends and just like he said, all 9 guys were there.

This type of draft was the most fun I have ever had drafting a team.  Everyone was criticizing and talking trash to everyone after every single pick.  You can't do that Online.  We also had an excellent time because this was the last time we would see most of the guys before everybody left for school this fall.

This is probably the best way to draft, so in my other league I tried to convince the commish to change to offline so I could see all of those guys and bust everyones balls about their picks.  Great idea Bahoo! Sports.
