    Baseball Playoffs and Controversy

Tuesday, October 2, 2007, 08:55 AM EST [Baseball]

This is the problem with baseball.  The baseball purists refuse to evolve and let their sport become a sport that strives to get every call right.  In the One Game playoff between the Padres and the Rockies was decided on a play that was clearly wrong.  Rockies player Matt Holliday did not touch the plate although the umpire called Holliday safe.  Watch the replay.  I think there is a problem with a sport that refuses to evolve and get calls right.

That's why football is such a great sport, it constantly evolves.  They put instant replay in so they could make sure that every play is called the right way.  They put the instant replay in so they could get the controversial plays correct.  Football admits people make mistakes; Baseball thinks that they are always correct regardless of what is right and wrong.  Baseball, the leasurely sport has that what's the rush attitude, what will a few more minutes mean if you get the call right.

Every other relevent sport uses replay except for baseball.  Basketball uses it for end of the quarter shots, hockey to see if a foot was in the crease, but baseball still refuses to use replay.  Evolve, it is okay.  If humans didn't evolve, we would still be flinging poop at each other.

    Now my playoff pick:

    • Red Sox over the Angels
    • Indians over the Yankees
    • Red Sox over the Indians
    • Phillies over the Rockies
    • Cubs over the D-Backs
    • Cubs over Phillies

And in the World Series, over 100 years of torment is finally over, as the CUBS WIN!!!

Evolve Baseball, stop living in the past.
